Incoming tc1 with 60k of student debt. Any suggestions on how to handle this? Are there any part time jobs y’all have gotten to pay off your debts?

I had about that much debt when I came in. Just pay down your highest rate loans first and don’t let it overwhelm you. It’ll be with you for a while but it was necessary to get where you are now.

Try finding private banks that will offer low int and consolidate. I found an offer at the perfect time with First Republic for 2.7% over 10 years. Had to meet certain qualifications but definitely the best option for me

I have a 25K loan from my MBA. I paid off 100k whole, after graduation. 3 years ago, I moved my loan from federal to private ( SOFI) account. I recently lost my job. I have applied for unemployment, as the severance that I received will only cover for 2 months. Together my husband and I used to make less than 250k after tax. Now, with a loss of pay , we are going to make less. Do you think I will be eligible for Loan forgiveness?

I am a Staff II in tax and am looking to go into consulting or finance. I have experience in finance and like the idea of switching. I like where I work, but have realized that I don't necessarily enjoy tax. I want to keep my options open and feel that tax doesn't necessarily give me the capacity to explore opportunities besides tax due to the fact that is it such specialized knowledge. Does anyone have any stories/ideas about moving to consulting or finance? Or is one preferred over the other?

Tax leadership just sent out an email saying that processing is backed up and everything might not make it out today. Then graciously reminded us that the internal deadline for requests was 2 days ago - like we intentionally waited to process things at the last minute.

If we don't have enough processors, it's time to give other people permissions to get things done, isn't it?

Ridiculous. Just had to rant.

Has anyone recently got a big 4 offer and successfully negotiated starting base + bonus? The recruiter told me that no one is getting a sign-on bonus because of covid, but it may not be true based on a few recent posts I saw in this bowl. Appreciate if anyone can share some insight.
Also, does anyone know what the salary / recent offer is for an experienced M&A tax manager in HCOL (NYC/SF) vs. M/LCOL?

So I worked from home yesterday and my husband had a sneak peak on my meetings with clients (which I’m very new to being a senior). He mention that I should read some sales pitch books of some sorts so I can get a process down and not be drain from having genuine conversations with every client. I think it’s a great idea. Anyone have thoughts or recommendation?
