Indecisive about what to get for dinner, normally I would flip a coin but let’s do it differently. Portillo’s (those in chi town know what I am talkin about) Vs Chick-fil-A. Like the one I should get🤤

If anyone reading this is longing for Portillo’s Italian beef, a not even close but will get you a 6.5/10 on authenticity and a 9.5/10 on taste, here is an easy recipe I made for my wife and I and it was 🔥 1 chuck roast - you’ll want leftovers, so 2-5 lbs depending on the size of your family. 1/4 to 1/2 jar of hot giardiniera (Vienna Beef brand if you can find it) Italian seasoning or a packet of dry Italian dressing mix 1 shallot, diced 6-12 whole cloves of garlic, skins removed 1-2 green peppers, slide into wide strips Water or beef broth Salt and pepper to taste S. Rosen buns or other soft deli buns Italian cheese (optional) 1. Sear chuck roast until brown on each side in Dutch oven (or on high in crock pot) 2. Add chopped shallots and onion, sauté for a couple minutes 3. Add Italian seasoning, giardiniera, green pepper, garlic, water/broth to cover, salt if using water 4. Transfer Dutch oven to 250 degree oven for 4-5 hours. (Cook on low in crock pot for 5-6 hours). 5. Carefully remove roast and chill in freezer. Once frozen, slice it thin. OR, if you cannot wait like me, shred the roast immediately and say to hell with authenticity. 6. Strain solids out to reserve some dipping jus. 7. Make the sandwich. Can dip slices in jus and add pepper or cheese to it and dip in the jus. Here is what I do: Toast bun, fire up the griddle, seat the meat, add shredded Italian cheese, little jus to melt the cheese with steam, too with more giardiniera and a slice of green pepper. Heaven.
