They say that accepting your shortcomings is the first step to removing them. The Indian government is meanwhile busy in PR and image management through the brutal censorship that it does so well.

like

And yeah, same applies to the state governments who are doing their part in hiding the true figures.

People who believe that India's inability to handle Covid will mean the downfall of Modi need to first understand why and how Modi got voted into power. The people who voted for BJP in the 2019 election did not do so because they were impressed by Modi's educational background or convinced by his crisis-management skills; they generally did so because that party is synonymous with Hindutva. The minority of people who point at this situation as an example of Modi's failure were not pro Modi to begin with. And the people who are pro Modi will, in six to eight months, hail Modi as a hero who brought India out of this disaster (albeit with foreign help and a high death toll). The one thing you need to understand about India is that BJP and Hindutva are here to stay for the fore-seeable future. And what is the deal with #ResignModi? You really think he is going to do it? More important question, do you think it was this one individual who can be blamed for all this? Is it not the fact that the he really has no incentive to do a better job because he knows that he is going to get re-elected anyways (he can also btw afford to not give a damn about a protest involving millions of people right at his doorstep)? Don't you think a part of the reason is that corruption is rampant in the Indian government at every level (which primarily is rooted in the inability of citizens to hold leaders and statesmen accountable)? Is it also not because most people in India being uneducated have no awareness of issues surrounding infections? Let's say it was a different BJP leader is power, or it was a different party entirely; why do you think this whole thing would have played out any differently?

Majority of Hindus will vote for Modi as he helped make the Ram temple in Ayodhya, so he and his govt need not work to improve healthcare to get votes. Seeing this other parties will try to woo voters by some competing and equally communal or retarded offers (like increased reservation or free things) End result will be no improvement.

like

Absolutely not. I’m a Hindu that voted for him last time (2014 I think?). I actually respected him a lot till about the impeachment thing. Now I have 0 respect for him. Who tf cares about temples 🤦‍♀️ I hope our fellow Indians open their eyes to see wtf has his govt done when the virus brought all countries to their knees.

like

Yay we have Modi. Modi will build 5 more temples across the country and we will forget this incident 😌😌 simple solution

We can build statues too

Yeah yeah. It's the public which is at fault. Not the most "powerful" majority government run by the most intelligent, foresighted and visionary leader the world has ever seen.

EY3: I am not Modi supporter and do not care much about BJP. But based on your logic it’s evident that u are big time congi supporter. Don’t you know there will be state responsibility vs Federal government responsibilities? If federal government steps in idiots like you will be first in line to cry that there is no democracy. You do not seem to care about state government faults. All chief ministers are getting a pass on their mismanagement. It’s like people praising NY governor during the crisis as great manager.

We often place too much faith and blame on the government. The public is idiotic and places greater emphasis on temples over hospitals. The government whose main motivation is to stay in power pander to their demands.

As expected, everyone is using this for their political propaganda. Infrastructure has been poor since independence. Doctors are moving abroad since 1960s. We need to focus on that. Ram Mandir and Modi aren’t the reasons behind this poor infrastructure. It is necessary to focus on the problem. Modi has failed to handle this situation but it would have been same even if Modi wasn’t PM

like

PwC - Amit Shah is an id**t to say that. Blame for not planning for a possible second wave is definitely on this govt. At the same time we have to look at larger picture, hospitals are overwhelmed in a country where seasonal disease outbreaks is really common. Almost every state govt is struggling to fight this pandemic. Blame for not having healthcare infrastructure is on previous govts too. Let’s not ignore that fact. Blaming Modi alone and pushing him out will definitely help with the short term goal of ousting Modi but will not help in highlighting the fact that all the govts till now failed to create healthcare infrastructure and problem will continue to persist even after Modi is gone.

You deserve the government you elect. - Thomas Jefferson

As far as Covid19 goes why Modi govt is in the dock and answerable is because they run central govt and Covid19 is a nationwide emergency not a state specific issue . If some state govt is not following central govt instructions it can be questioned. Now let's see what good and bad things central govt did. Good thing was to impose the 21 days lock down in the starting bad thing was waiting for Trump visit to end , the Madhya Pradesh govt to fall and then declaring lock down and stil not planning on how to handle the mass exodus of migrant labour from major industrial cities .  Now that was around April 2020 and now we are in April 2021 so Govt had 1 year time to set thigns straight or to be ready to handle the eventuality. We all praise Amit Shah for his detailed planning of elections but as home minister did he do detailed planning to handle covid ? NO . Election in state or municipality could very well have been postponed and no one would have opposed it . IF still elections were to be held then all election meetings which broke all covid protocol were not required. Major impact of this breaking of covid protocols during election meetings was that when it was advertised on national media common man thought there is no Covid or covid has gone and common man followed Modi and Amit shah example and now we see the result. Not to forget the disastrous Kumbh gathering which was called off much later when all the damage had already been done. Now you cant blame congress govt for allowing Kumbh ? Yes health infra is insufficient in India and that needs systematic planning. Every successive govt cant Escape by saying that previous govt did not do it. It has been 30 years since Rajiv Gandhi died so no point in questioning Nehru Indira and Rajiv. We need to question Atal Bihari, Manmohan Singh and Modi. However handling Covid would still require different planning even if we improve doctor to population ratio as pandemic handling is more about awareness and scale of oxygen supply and medicine availablity.

I rest my case. In February 2017, Charlie Munger (the 93-year young partner of Warren Buffet, and if you don’t know who Charlie Munger or Warren Buffet is, god bless you) spoke to Investors and stated this about India. ‘Now you turn to India. And I would say, I’d rather work with a bunch of Chinese than I would the Indian civilization mired down, caste system, over-population, assimilated the worst stupidities of the democratic system, which by the way Lee Kuan Yew avoided, it’s hard to get anything done in India. And the bribes are just awful. So, all I can say is, it’s not going to be easy for India to follow the example of Lee Kuan Yew. I think that India will move ahead. But it is so defective as a get-ahead…the Indians I know are fabulous people. They’re just as talented as the Chinese, I’m speaking about the Indian populace. But the system and the poverty and the corruption and the crazy democratic thing where you let anybody who screams stop all progress? It mires India with problems that Lee Kuan Yew didn’t have. And I don’t think those Indian problems are always easy to fix. Let me give you an example. The Korean steel company, POSCO, invented a new way of creating steel out of lousy iron ore and lousy coal. And there’s some province in India that has lots of lousy iron ore and lot of lousy coal. Which is there’s not much use for. And this one process would take their lousy iron ore and the coal and make a lot of steel. And they got a lot of cheap labor. So POSCO and India were made for each other. And they made a deal with the province to get together and use the POSCO know how and the India lousy iron ore and lousy coal. And 8 or 9 or 10 years later with everybody screaming and objecting and farmers lying down in the road, or whatever’s going on, they canceled the whole thing. In China they would have just done it. Lee Kuan Yew would have done it in (Singapore). India is grossly defective because they’ve taken the worst aspects of our culture, allowing a whole bunch of idiots to scream and stop everything. And they copied it! And so they have taken the worst aspects of democracy and they forged their own chains and put them on themselves. And so no I do not like the prospects of India compared to the prospects of…and I don’t think India’s going to do as well as Lee Kuan Yew.
