There's a common superstition in India that people cast an evil eye out of jealousy or spite on something you hold dear. That could be a reason. I also think it's just weird when people share photo of their kids but I don't think that's the main reason for the majority of Indians.

Don't forget the social media profiles for their dogs and cats 😂😂. How do they get any work done being a full time Instagram blogger

I think it's just weird to do that in general

I am Indian, parent and quite guarded of sharing my private life openly. Nothing cultural about my need to not share publicly, merely a personal choice.

It’s kind of creepy and also a sign of bad parenting if you do - Regardless of ethnicity.

Int-1: I agree to a certain point that you want to share with close family and friends. Everyone does, but I’m not comfortable sharing pictures of my family for the world to see via social media.

I’m not Indian and don’t post my child online or random people. I’ll share with close friends though.

If it’s an Indian thing it should be an everywhere thing. I don’t need to see 100 pictures of your baby sitting there gurgling.

like

Not Indian, don’t share pictures of kids anywhere. Have been asked for photos by acquaintances and ignored or declined. Parents prerogative

like

no- not an indian thing. me and my colleagues have openly shared the cliche ‘mom.and baby are doing fine’ with a pic of an out of sorts wife, smiling husband and a swaddle wrapped baby, which looks identical to every other baby.

OP, context matters with this. Elaborate on the situation.

Any moms who really badly wanted a girl but ended up with a boy(s)? How do you feel now? Do you still want a girl? Would you try again? Does it matter really, or was it just in your head? Had a difficult relationship with my mom growing up, so always wanted that closeness with my future daughter. FTM having a boy and a little disappointed, but feeling guilty for that too. Difficult pregnancy so likely won't have another. But I want a girl. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Please no woke left gender drama responses. Thanks.

I broke up with my EX mainly because the relationship with my child and her was not the best, it sucks but I have to look out for my child, So far I am able to do the things I can do now. It is not the I am not Hoeing around but the simply fact that I can hang out with friends and go watch my son play baseball is a great feeling now. I feel at peace now, in somewhat of pain because of the breakup but I am at peace now.

I on L1 visa which is expiring on Dec 1. My wife is on L2 and currently pregnant and due on Dec 19. My company has filed for an extension in August for me and thinks that there will be no decision until early next year. If my visa extension gets denied before December 1, does it mean that we cannot deliver our child in US? What is the norms for losing health coverage - do I lose it immediately?

How safe is Houston downtown for a female staying alone with a young kid for a few months? Being very close to the office and daycare, and availability of public transport (doesn't drive) are reason for preffering downtown. However, have been reading about the recent crime surge there. If someone is generally back home by 8 PM or earlier, and will probably take Uber locally, is it still risky. Also welcome any good apartment suggestions. Thanks

Hi, Consulting Moms! I need advice - I am leaving industry to return to consulting. I have offers from KPMG and Deloitte, and we are looking to start a family ASAP (we have been actively trying and I have a feeling it would be just my luck to start a new job and find out I’m pregnant). Would love your insight around personal experience with hours per week, work-life balance, culture, etc. Offers are same level/role/scope (Change Management / Transformation / Human Capital) and same salary. TY!
