I don't see how that could work. Not knowing class size, testing ,and many other factors
Maybe the Indiana gov. Has no idea how a school works.
You are surprised by this? They don't know, they don't care. They are listening to the lobbyists as they are wined and dined and often bribed.

If the state legislature wants to pass that, there needs to be a companion piece requiring ever legislator to post ever bill they will vote on, speech they will give, fundraiser they will attend, expense report they will file, meeting they will attend (with attached agenda)....
All before their first day in office.
So, cut, copy, and paste then is what you're saying. Who needs creativity, individualized or differentiated instruction, or culturally responsive teaching? Apparently every year the students are exactly the same and nothing new is ever learned about teaching or knowledge. I wish just for once people who made/enforced the educational policies were actually educators.
More of the same- to a degree- 19th-20thC assembly line.

Our Superintendent tried to make us create a year's worth of lessons last year to make Remote Learning easier, theoretically.
I copied and pasted everything and made it as generic as possible. Knocked out a whole semester in an hour. Pretty sure nobody even looked at them.
Pretty sure that's what will happen on a large scale in Indiana.
This is the logical conclusion of letting people with no experience teaching set education policy.

Any teacher that can post an entire year’s plans and stick to them is not a real teacher. Teaching demands flexibility.
Not sure they stick to them any more than we do! - simply a plan.
How will the lessons be differentiated?
I would quit teaching immediately. My lesson plans have to be responsive.

That’s exactly what they want. The Indiana legislature is hoping that teachers will quit en masse so they can privatize everything.
I worked in Gary for three years. As a result, I’ve never had a very high opinion of Indiana. This doesn’t help at all.
Could this be another way to know what Is being taught in the classroom, without the cameras?
I can see this leading to worse planning, not better. I know I would just post the previous year's lesson plans with a line "adapt for needs and conditions" added to each. The problem is that the plans would be out of sync with reality. This would lead to either, not bothering to plan at all, or running two sets of plans.
As I said, for me it wouldn't be a big burden. My fear would be the teachers who either give up on plans at all or really try to stick to plans mand months prior.
In the UK system, I was expected to submit a Scheme of Work before the year started, however, that was a rough guide and nothing more. I was a bit surprised that nothing like that was expected in The States. I still make one, but here it is just so the students, and their parents know what to expect. It isn't for daily guidance.
We develop a scope and sequence for our building. It’s a general idea of how to integrate concepts throughout the curriculum (I’m elementary). It gives a good idea of how to approach content but skills are a whole other level. If you can be super clever and have some freedom, you can integrate skills as well into those content units. Unfortunately, our ELA curriculum is awful and I have to teach it. I often veer off just enough to appear as though I’m teaching it but am able to integrate it own stuff into the skills instruction it’s focusing on week by week.
Yeah. Let's talk about how my school district posted Curriculum Unit Plans *for* us this school year (lesson plans developed by a select group of teachers last summer) and will not allow us to adjust or sway from them. These *are* our whole group lesson plans. When we addressed the fact that content that we usually embed into spiral review was all front-loaded at the beginning of the year and that kids needed this at the frequency we use it, we were told "No, you may not adjust the CUPS. You must stay 'married' to the CUPS. You may not adjust the timelines. You may not adapt. You must do exactly this." Now, in February, we are being told that we need to make a plan to address all of the lack of growth in our students this year because their scores are low. Like, scary low.
I have retaliated, because I am furious. We told you in SEPTEMBER that this wouldn't work. We told you in SEPTEMBER this was a bad idea and we know what is best for our kids. But you REQUIRED us to follow this garbage you planned out for the year, and then turn around and want US to fix the mess YOU BROKE? Absolutely insane.
We tried that with a math curriculum, the high schools will not forgive us to this day ... six years later ... go figure.
Teachers should at least have a general idea of what they will teach throughout the year. Maybes not every single week, but within a few weeks and what will be covered every quarter. If teachers had stuck to curriculum and not started getting too political, this never would have happened.
I posted a link to the actual bill. It doesn’t sound at all like it’s asking for daily or weekly lesson plans.
I’d literally just print off state standards and say here.
you might not even know where you are working, grade level or subject at that point
What brilliant educator thought this one up!
Read the actual bill. https://iga.in.gov/legislative/2022/bills/house/1134
Does Indiana not have state standards for subjects taught within its schools?
Every parent should be able to see what is expected of their student at every level, K-12!
Yes, this is about “censoring”!
Addendum: one very long separated from an elementary classroom -or- whom has never taught a day in their life ...
