I’ve done this on a project in Monaco where it was cheaper, we got apartments that we paid for by the month. You don’t get points and it’s not as comfortable but you can stay weekends.
I know people who have done this at my firm. We have a corporate housing program. Must be scheduled on the project for >3 months I believe
Same at Deloitte. The policy specifically states regular 4 day/week onsite required and 90 days minimum project length.
I’d do it if the project was truly long term, but for three months, give me those points baby
Yes. Run the cost model and difference and show the savings. That's it
What’s the difference between this and you simply moving there, other than the firm completely paying for your living expenses?
Not wanting to pay for your own expenses duh
Besides tax issues it’s just a matter of financials. If you’re East Coast to another East Coast city, your flights are probably cheaper than a few extra hotel nights.
East to west coast? Your hotel may be cheaper and it would make sense
Yeah, we’ve got people doing it now on the project
Yes. I had a long term project based in NYC and my firm paid for an apartment for me to live in. Best time of my life getting to experience life in the city while not paying the city rent...!
