You’re not alone, but know it’s skyrocketing for a reason. If you’re fine with that trade-off, then this is a good market to make the change.

I pulled the lever. So far, no regrets so long as the paychecks keep coming…

Good for you! 🙂

The comp is super tempting… but I get enough parental guilt and already feel like I miss out on my kids too much when I work less than 40 hrs.

Wondering same. Do they take people with boutique background or only big law background? Also, can you lateral after 10+ out or do they prefer more junior?

Nope!

Hi Folks,
Anyone willing to share insights about AlixPartners in Milan? I couldn’t find much on internet. Basically I’m just trying to understand a bit more about the office culture, size of the teams and typical engagements, comp&benefits and career path. The position will be Vice President. Currently I work on a boutique firm in London and I’m trying to move to Milan without compromising too much my current position (SC) and comp.

Ok attempt 2 at demystifying partner comp:

This Q is going to spark some debate. Are the following ranges for average comp for partner with 2-3 YOE accurate? (Not meant to diminish any firms!)

Group 1 - MBB, Tier 2 - Kearney, LEK etc, “deep specialists” - ZS, OW etc: $750k - $1.5M
Group 2: B4, “broad specialists” - Navigant, W. Monroe etc: $400-600K
Group 3: Regional - North Highland, Point B etc: $250-400K

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

Transitioning from junior in house at a very small company where I only did small easy contract review to a large multinational corporation in a few weeks, and have those weeks off. Does anyone have any book recommendations I can read until then that actually offer good insight and helpful tips?!

I didn’t learn that much on the business side and I love reading, so seems like a good idea to relax while also preparing a bit.

Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?

In my performance review, when asked why I wasn’t promoted, they said that a reason was because I need to learn to stop sending them drafts to review! I said that I only did this because they asked for it, and they said they don’t remember saying that!
