Actually, if you just follow the money, you find more interesting things.
Who gets paid when a district buys computers for kids that already have them and stiffs the employees?
My district has given zero money more than last year, added 7+ days of time to our contracts, dozens of new responsibilities and are spending money everywhere else.

Re: the article: I have to commend our local teachers “Union”. Although Maryland is a slave state (right to work state) the union such as it is is has worked very hard and been tremendously effective in corralling a coalition of intelligent, educated parents and teachers to fight the political call to open schools in the middle of this game changing pandemic. 
I believe that is pretty spot on. Economics and politics push our schools. If the states didn’t come out with a ruling, the schools are left up to their communities to decide what needs to happen for their students.
What a shocker. I have said since day one (actually, it was probably more like day ten) that this was more of a political issue than a health issue. I haven't seen anything to make me think differently.
