Offer from a PE firm. Base - few K more than my salary now, but bonus is 20% a year. Also willing to reevaluate and raise my base at year end. But I have a great reputation in my office. 1
You should be able to take 1 mulligan/year. You just walk away from a project with absolutely NO repercussions or guilt and forget you were even a part of such a mess
Another high level LB promotion and how do we find out about it??? AdAge. Come on guys, what the hell? #powerofYOU
Any word on Advisory promotion timing? May or June or July? Sincerely, Consultant who needs a pay bump
Been at the “we submitted the paperwork” stage of a promotion for 2 months. Have lined up another offer. How to communicate this to my current agency and push them to counter offer?
For the ad veterans on here: is it worth staying agency-side in your mid-career? All of these posts from people working insane hours, weekends, layoffs, ageism, etc. are making me wonder if I should just go client-side next. I want to learn more, do work for national brands, and work with smart, talented people... But I also don't want the insane hours or constant threat of downsizing. Do agencies that offer the above with some form of work-life balance exist?
If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB? Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?
For anyone worried about leaving before a busy season, my friend just got laid off from a mid sized. You gotta think about yourself first bc they won't hesitate to let you go,regardless of client load
Have you seen the promotion potential to be better in long term projects? (Talking 2 to 5 year terms)
Gave up promotion to manager in current career track to be on a project in a different career track, doing work that I am more interested in, but have zero experience in - yay or nay?
Our company is considering offering 401K employer match. We are about 200 employees venture backed company. We have about 60% participation mostly the non HCEs and only some key employees contribute. We always pass top heavy test and wpassed the 2019 ADP/ACP test. We are aggressively hiring and project there will be increase in participation, particularly if we offer the match. Given this information would it make sense to continue with a traditional 401k plan or go with safe Harbor plan?
Based out of NY, project in Philly. What do you guys usually do for the weekly commute? Car rental or train?
Working remote this week - Woke up, saw email that client internet is down, rolled over and went the fuck back to sleep.
Up for manager soon. Getting recruited by a boutique consulting firm but for a lateral move. 30%+ raise and better work. Don’t want the last 2 year’s of work towards promotion to be wasted (cont)
Just hit 50 nights with Marriott and been offered to pick an award gift. Which gift would be the best option? I usually book Airbnbs for personal lodging given costs/friends don’t travel like I do...
Goals are to transition to strategy consulting as well as earn an M7 MBA. Which option makes more sense? (1) Stay at firm until I apply to B school, then interview for strategy (2) transition to strategy consulting first as experienced hire, then apply to B school? Pros/Cons? Currently 1 YOE as a consultant
An employee at a London agency gets Coronavirus. Instead of implementing WFH indefinitely, they close for a few days to clean. This - both the thinking and the action - is how pandemics spread. https://www.adweek.com/agencyspy/publicis-groupe-uk-closes-turnmill-office-in-london-after-employee-tests-positive-for-covid-19/162789/
When are your new hire start dates for tax associates? I heard we are moving to June and January. If I could go back in time, I’d have taken January so I could sit for the cpa exam before working
I’m going to use my (crap) corporate AmEx to expense my $234 Spectrum cable bill. “Working from home” requires 10+ hours a day of high speed Internet. Come at me, finance.
I haven't gotten an invite for our holiday party. Is it not happening this year for EY Advisory or is this their soft way of asking me to leave?
Strategy SM of one year, looking at a few Microsoft roles. 12 years of career experience plus MBA. What level is appropriate? Director or Sr. D seems appropriate, or should I target General Manager (though those don’t seem to be as available as Director level roles)? Is it harder to lateral in at GM? Better to go in at Director and get promoted to GM? Thanks!
Breaking up in your 30s seems unusually challenging, that too just pre-covid.. i wasted important years of my life after someone very wrong. Feels like im gonna die alone.. 😕 anyone experience this in their life?
I am a new consultant on the team. The senior consultant on the team suggested that I have regular touch points with the other senior managers even though I don't directly work with either of them.
Posted this on another bowl by mistake... 72andsunny NY for creatives? Work/life balance, culture, pros and cons, best/worst accounts?
That moment you realize you don’t need to worry about being underpaid anymore because your spouse makes 2x as much as you while billing out clients at 1/2 the hourly rate as you do. Funny how that works...
When I started working at 22 I started off with 15% of salary into traditional tax deferred 401k. I’m now 27 with 88k in my tax deferred account, and am thinking about converting it to a Roth account. I don’t know much, but is this advisable? Is it generally the case that is rather pay taxes now if I think I’ll be making more money later in my career, thus I’ll be taxed at a higher rate than compared to today? And when is the best time to convert? Sooner rather than later? When mrkts are frothy?
What’s the best exit opportunities for HC consultants that do not fall into HR Business Partner? I have no interest in compensation, laws, succession planning, etc,.. CONT
