Interviewed at Deloitte in November of last year for S&A role in NY. Recruiter said the team felt you were very strong but hiring freeze is active, will move forward later. Is this kind rejection?

Nope, they very well could reach out if they find they need more people. We have some beach and could be losing people due to bonus payouts soon. It’s just a timing thing, they honestly would pass if they truly did not consider you someone they would reach out to

like

There is a freeze. If you are still interested, do reach out in 6 months. Nothing personal but they have no permission to hire if it’s not an urgent issue

OP what's your background. DM me, my project is staffing and we are not getting good internal matches.

Specifically they said they would welcome the opportunity to move forward when there is capacity and to follow up in 6 months. I did, reiterating my interest, emphasizing teaching myself python and some other skills. Got back the same messaging “we will definitely reach out!”. Am I just on a contingency wait list?

To clarify 10 months ago in November they told you there was a hiring freeze and they haven’t reached out since then? We’ve hired a ton of people in the past year, we actually over-hired. If they told you about a hiring freeze now, that is somewhat correct as the main focus now is to staff the bench and review overall skills vs project demands. Each portfolio will start hiring ‘again’ at different dates based on need and bench availability. Some areas are actively hiring for certain skills.

Sounds like they liked you and want to keep the pipeline of candidates warm with the right folks. Perhaps follow up with the recruiter in mid late Oct and continue to express interest.

aw this makes me sad that they over hired this past year... I applied at a bad time....wish I did so earlier.
