I turned in a ppt that wasn’t great but thought was good enough, and the hiring manager decided to move on. I have good relationships there and think the hiring process was v positive overall, plus I was likely their top candidate. Does it make sense to request a do over?

I guess it depends how badly you want it? How do you know how likely you were to be the top choice though? I would at least try to keep the conversation open but if the hiring manager passed, I wouldn't expect a redo so soon.

Junior associate in a big firm, slowly transitioning to a mid level role. In these slow times, wondering about client development. I know no one is expecting to bring in clients during this pandemic, but any general advice for how young associates can get an impressive and effective head start on business development that could actually lead to new clients? What do firms and clients actually care about (networking in and out of your firm, certifications, speaking engagements, etc)?

I’m a recent grad in December 2020 from a target school, and I would appreciate any advice on applying to non-technical roles in the tech industry. I recruited for consulting and “underperformed” I feel like so I’m a bit disappointed but think I might actually enjoy working in tech better. From the research I’ve done, I think BizOps sounds really cool.

Any advice on overcoming language barriers? I just started a new role and am already struggling interpreting some of my coworkers’ English. They are from Russia. I want to approach this in the right way and make sure I don’t offend anyone if I ask them to clarify or explain that I’m not understanding. My boss is from the U.S. so I thought about just asking her to help me translate. I can include an example from an email in the comments. Thanks all in advance!

I got laid off from my accounting/consulting firm in January and have since been taking a class related to my industry but from a tech angle. I prefer to leave consulting but could stay off the work and work life balance were better. I signed up for this class thinking hiring woods be soft until midyear give or take just wish the class finished. I look on this app and it seems everyone is hiring. Am I missing the boat by not being in a full throttle job search now?

I am a background check away from putting in my notice. KEEP grinding if you’re miserable and/or have trouble getting out of bed in the morning. This took a lot of ghosting and interviews+offer letters being taken off the table due to COVID. Stay humble and you’ll be next. Take a midday walk and schedule some coffee meetings to expand your network and stay sane.
