Hi,
I am a project manager and working in the supply chain industry. With little knowledge of IT, still I had managed to crack an interview as IT project manager but given the circumstances I had chosen my current job. It's been for years now and I'm unable to crack any of the interviews as project manager in any of the IT firms. Does it because I had rejected the order earlier? I have an interview scheduled with Barclays next week. HR told me that this will be a Business and controls interview. On asking what would this be around, she just told me that the panel would like to know more about you. She didn't say anything else. What can I expect from this round.
I gave one round before this one which was completely technical and from my CV

🙏🙏🙏🙏 for some likes so I can DM people…thank youuu
Definitely follow up! Shows interest and is reasonable based on timeline
I followed up early Tuesday morning and still haven’t heard back so I HAVE to assume the HM is dead, right?!
Keep chasing! Give it a few more days and politely nudge the hiring manager and your contact in their recruitment / HR team (if any)
Agree with the senior recruiter above. Politely let them known if your interest…some HMs wait for this to see who is interested🤔
Certainly reach out. It won't hurt your chances, and might actually help by demonstrating you are still interested.
Absolutely follow up, tactfully of course
I believe in the job market and the job market going back at least 5 years this is all too common. I can name countless interviews and phone screens I participated in and was later ghosted. I can also name countless times I got the “we’re sorry, your qualifications don’t meet the requirements for the role” within seconds or 24 hours of submitting my resume. I think the pandemic resulted in a ton of layoffs across the HR/Recruiting field since that is a non profit generating department in most businesses. As a result, candidates are left with recruiters who are responsible for handling too heavy of a workload. Many companies also have policies against anyone reaching out to the candidate besides the recruiter. In this market, as a candidate, we are bottom of the barrel when it comes to priority unless you were the one selected. What this means is, little communication, no feedback about why you weren’t selected, and no opportunity to figure out what went wrong so you can improve it moving forward. It’s a bad setup for all involved. However, as a candidate, apply to whatever your interested in, follow up afterwards, but don’t stop on your other prospects until you have an offer letter you are super happy with. Even if you have an offer, If it’s not what you wanted, negotiate it, and until negotiations are complete and you have signed, you should always keep pushing forward on your other options. Being a candidate in todays market is a painful experience, unless you are high value tech or executive talent which then creates a whole different experience as companies are generally competing for your attention versus you competing for theirs.
