For those who were at mid-tier firms and have left PA/are interviewing, did you feel that your exit opportunities were limited due being at a mid-tier? I’m genuinely curious as I’ll be joining a mid-tier and I am coming from a regional firm. Hoping to pay my dues for another 2-3 years to get senior promotion and get my CPA (halfway done) then exit PA. Don’t really want to hop into B4 but everyone always talks about the B4 prestige being a huge resume booster.

Have been interviewing — at first just to see what the pay would be/for fun — but now I am really interested and think I’d jump ship if I got it and pay is almost triple what I make now. I know if I leave my partner will be left with ALL of my work and now help and he’s been a tremendous mentor and I really appreciate him. Should I tell him now I’m interviewing. I don’t wanna leave him drowning and leave in a bad way because I really do appreciate him. Any advice?

Any ideas on how’d you approach this?
