Interviewing for a security assurance analyst position with Twilio and some of the stuff I’ve been reading makes me nervous. Any Twilio people here that can speak to overall company culture and work/life balance?

The pace is fast and the bar is high. That said, there is a big emphasis on balance. Everyone respects your life outside of work and we have small things like no-meeting Fridays.

If you’re having trouble or second thoughts - reach out to the recruiter you’re working with when I went through the process they helped me out and set me up with other people (outside of the process) to talk to.

Just an example: I left mid day during a huge project to go to my kid’s parent teacher conference. No questions asked and was told to have a good weekend.

You will be busy, but when you need focus time or time away to take care of life - you’ll have the support.

Been at twilio for less than a year but it's the best place I've ever worked. Culture is great though there are issues due to massive employee growth over the last few years but overall it's great. Security is of utmost importance in this space so I'd imagine there may be some pressure but I'd imagine less than at a smaller company. Everyone I've met here has been super helpful all while being remote.

At the end of the day I think you should trust the feeling you’re getting from the interview process. I’m connected with a few people on LinkedIn who work there and seem to really enjoy it. I’m sure experience varies from person to person but it’s definitely possible to have a positive experience.

I think that’s a good perspective. I’m just going to do my best to be thoughtful with my questions and get the answers I need to make a good decision.

Haven't heard anything too terrible. Just that it can be a bit fast paced over there thats all.

I have a connection that only worked there for 9 months (quit two weeks ago) - just said the company culture wasn’t a good fit (I know that’s vague)

I think Twilio is one of those company cultures in which a person is either going to thrive or be miserable. I would ask questions and try to get a sense of it during the interviews.

It's a growing company so there will be pressure. But I am sure there will be support when needed. Did you end up taking the offer?

Hi! I am a cybersecurity student graduate. My major is in ADJ and homeland security. I am currently seeking a position in homeland security or entry-level cybersecurity analyst.
They say there are more cybersecurity positions than job seekers but no one seems to want to hire, and entry-level job description seems to fit mostly experienced professionals.
Recruiters are ghosting, it seems they are only reaching out to meet quotas.
Any advice, please? Thank you.

Best Job Boards? I have been using LinkedIn and Indeed but haven’t had much luck. About 6 months ago I left my job for a contract position but it’s been extremely slow to get started (not enough hours/not what I was told). Trying to stick it out but at this point I need to start looking for full time work. I’m worried that this will now impact my resume. I was at my previous role for ten years and have a background as Director of Ops & Chief of Staff. Please let me know if you have any leads!

I think I’ve hit burnout. My to do list for this week is 3 pages long and growing. When I hear about what friends are handling at their firms, it doesn’t seem like I have more work than them. But I’m so tired I can barely manage 8-9 hours of billables before my productivity tanks. I probably need to be hitting 12 to keep up with the workload. I look at my to do list and want to cry at how little I’ve crossed off.

All I can think about each day is how much I want to sleep.

Can you please share your thoughts on loyalty? I've been at my company for several years and was recently given a very large raise (with the unspoken expectation that it would keep me around for at least another year or two) but I'm considering leaving for an unbelievable opportunity - the money is a little less, but the responsibility is way more significant, and the company is growing faster than my company employer. At first I was thinking I can't take it because my current company has taken care of me, but also fuck it, it's my life, and at the end of the day it's a job. What do you think abt this conundrum??
