Interviewing for a security assurance analyst position with Twilio and some of the stuff I’ve been reading makes me nervous. Any Twilio people here that can speak to overall company culture and work/life balance?

The pace is fast and the bar is high. That said, there is a big emphasis on balance. Everyone respects your life outside of work and we have small things like no-meeting Fridays.

If you’re having trouble or second thoughts - reach out to the recruiter you’re working with when I went through the process they helped me out and set me up with other people (outside of the process) to talk to.

Just an example: I left mid day during a huge project to go to my kid’s parent teacher conference. No questions asked and was told to have a good weekend.

You will be busy, but when you need focus time or time away to take care of life - you’ll have the support.

Been at twilio for less than a year but it's the best place I've ever worked. Culture is great though there are issues due to massive employee growth over the last few years but overall it's great. Security is of utmost importance in this space so I'd imagine there may be some pressure but I'd imagine less than at a smaller company. Everyone I've met here has been super helpful all while being remote.

At the end of the day I think you should trust the feeling you’re getting from the interview process. I’m connected with a few people on LinkedIn who work there and seem to really enjoy it. I’m sure experience varies from person to person but it’s definitely possible to have a positive experience.

I think that’s a good perspective. I’m just going to do my best to be thoughtful with my questions and get the answers I need to make a good decision.

Haven't heard anything too terrible. Just that it can be a bit fast paced over there thats all.

I have a connection that only worked there for 9 months (quit two weeks ago) - just said the company culture wasn’t a good fit (I know that’s vague)

I think Twilio is one of those company cultures in which a person is either going to thrive or be miserable. I would ask questions and try to get a sense of it during the interviews.

It's a growing company so there will be pressure. But I am sure there will be support when needed. Did you end up taking the offer?

Currently a local gov lawyer (was a prosecutor before that). Live in a small market where government contractors are the big employer for the community. Eventually I’ll make decent money in my role but I find myself getting impatient as friends w/o law degrees make more money than me as like subcontracts administrators with room to climb the corp ladder. Sometimes I think about leaving for this. No loans, will never do big law. Just tired of not being able to buy a decent house. Am I crazy?

Going to be interviewing with a few start-ups that seem pretty cool and have good funding. 2 have about $150million in funding corporate round and one has about $75million in post IPO debt raised on top of $300million+ on funding.
The industries seem interesting and I may take them to meet the team but a bit nervous about the risk. They are very much corporate accounting type roles.

Need advice. What would u do in the situation of being in a position for 4-5 years, requesting a transition to a senior title. Ur manager said they are working on the story line to present so that it would be possible. U have earned multiple certifications, showed interest in new projects, took on new responsibilities, and automating some of your responsibilities. To be told, it doesnt look like it’s in ur cards for next year. But they are moving mountains for ur coworker - who does the same job

Hello all, I hope you’re all having a fantastic day/evening. I’m a Case Manager for TZ Insurance, aka Tranzact. Just had my first-year annual review and it went.... really well 😭😅 I'm so relieved. This is just a small friendly reminder not to listen to your imposter syndrome/anxiety voice all the time. We're not expected to be perfect, we're just expected to put the effort in. Sorry if this is too cheesy, I just literally had a nightmare last night that I got fired in my review and am realizing that maybe I need to chill the eff out 🤦🏽‍♀️
