Interviewing for a security assurance analyst position with Twilio and some of the stuff I’ve been reading makes me nervous. Any Twilio people here that can speak to overall company culture and work/life balance?

The pace is fast and the bar is high. That said, there is a big emphasis on balance. Everyone respects your life outside of work and we have small things like no-meeting Fridays.

If you’re having trouble or second thoughts - reach out to the recruiter you’re working with when I went through the process they helped me out and set me up with other people (outside of the process) to talk to.

Just an example: I left mid day during a huge project to go to my kid’s parent teacher conference. No questions asked and was told to have a good weekend.

You will be busy, but when you need focus time or time away to take care of life - you’ll have the support.

Been at twilio for less than a year but it's the best place I've ever worked. Culture is great though there are issues due to massive employee growth over the last few years but overall it's great. Security is of utmost importance in this space so I'd imagine there may be some pressure but I'd imagine less than at a smaller company. Everyone I've met here has been super helpful all while being remote.

At the end of the day I think you should trust the feeling you’re getting from the interview process. I’m connected with a few people on LinkedIn who work there and seem to really enjoy it. I’m sure experience varies from person to person but it’s definitely possible to have a positive experience.

I think that’s a good perspective. I’m just going to do my best to be thoughtful with my questions and get the answers I need to make a good decision.

Haven't heard anything too terrible. Just that it can be a bit fast paced over there thats all.

I have a connection that only worked there for 9 months (quit two weeks ago) - just said the company culture wasn’t a good fit (I know that’s vague)

I think Twilio is one of those company cultures in which a person is either going to thrive or be miserable. I would ask questions and try to get a sense of it during the interviews.

It's a growing company so there will be pressure. But I am sure there will be support when needed. Did you end up taking the offer?

Currently reaching out to recruiters for a job in Atlanta, GA after law school that will begin fall 2022. The recruiters who have responded start by saying that my resume and background are impressive, but they don’t have any openings at the moment. Are they just saying my qualifications are impressive to be nice & that’s just something they say to everyone or they really mean that?

I have applied for a Junior Strategic Planner role in NYC. I was now asked what my salary expectations are...what range is appropriate here? I have 2 years of experience and a Masters in Marketing.

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?

Cut the strategy department from an agency with strategic creatives. Is there a difference? Probably not. Strategy is being treated like a studio, more meetings more money. But that means less creative time. That means less creative development. And from my POV, strategy kills more time than aligns any type of strategy.

I'd like some input on choosing between to internships. I am studying Business Analysis and would like to do data analytics or analytics in general post-grad. I would love to do healthcare tech.

Thank you in advance!

They are minor changes, but since we’re not a billion$ company, and that he isn’t paid a lot, he doesn’t feel like addressing “meaningless” details.

I’m not sure how to address his behavior. He’s very condescending, and keeps undermining my experience.

Hi,

The people at ariba are great. The nicest I have ever met, but if they hire you for a contract they will tell you in a year they will hire you. However, in PA they have strange laws and it is cheaper to just keep someone for almost a year then let them go. They bring new people in all the time to replace you and do not hire you after ayear and I feel I did a very good job for them. I was getting los of 5 star reviews. That doe not matter. IN a year they will not renew your ontract.
