Interviewing for a security assurance analyst position with Twilio and some of the stuff I’ve been reading makes me nervous. Any Twilio people here that can speak to overall company culture and work/life balance?

The pace is fast and the bar is high. That said, there is a big emphasis on balance. Everyone respects your life outside of work and we have small things like no-meeting Fridays.

If you’re having trouble or second thoughts - reach out to the recruiter you’re working with when I went through the process they helped me out and set me up with other people (outside of the process) to talk to.

Just an example: I left mid day during a huge project to go to my kid’s parent teacher conference. No questions asked and was told to have a good weekend.

You will be busy, but when you need focus time or time away to take care of life - you’ll have the support.

Been at twilio for less than a year but it's the best place I've ever worked. Culture is great though there are issues due to massive employee growth over the last few years but overall it's great. Security is of utmost importance in this space so I'd imagine there may be some pressure but I'd imagine less than at a smaller company. Everyone I've met here has been super helpful all while being remote.

At the end of the day I think you should trust the feeling you’re getting from the interview process. I’m connected with a few people on LinkedIn who work there and seem to really enjoy it. I’m sure experience varies from person to person but it’s definitely possible to have a positive experience.

I think that’s a good perspective. I’m just going to do my best to be thoughtful with my questions and get the answers I need to make a good decision.

Haven't heard anything too terrible. Just that it can be a bit fast paced over there thats all.

I have a connection that only worked there for 9 months (quit two weeks ago) - just said the company culture wasn’t a good fit (I know that’s vague)

I think Twilio is one of those company cultures in which a person is either going to thrive or be miserable. I would ask questions and try to get a sense of it during the interviews.

It's a growing company so there will be pressure. But I am sure there will be support when needed. Did you end up taking the offer?

Hey Fishes!!! Any idea, how many days would it take for TechM to process the offer letter from the date of Letter of Intent? I have received the LOI last week and i have submitted all documentations the same day. The HR messaged me saying that my offer is in process. Just curious to know the offer process period(days) and why would it take more than 3 days when the LOI has all band, role and salary breakup which means i presume that there are no approval delays. Can some HR enlighten us

At what point do you know that it’s time to leave a new position? I have always excelled in my previous jobs and left a cushy position for this agency. But since day one, I have been struggling to adjust. I started not long after lockdown began in my city, and am starting to regret taking this new job.

I’m used of multitasking, constant stress, and looming deadlines at work. But I can’t seem to get the hang of things here.

I am in constant fear of getting fired. I can’t sleep, eat. Help?!

5 years in pharma and I still don’t find hotsheets to be productive. HCP, DTC, launches—don’t matter.

PM’s hot sheet emails ARE actually helpful, and not cramming everyone in a phone booth for it since 2020 has been an improvement. But outside of introducing new team members and giving our goodbyes to those who are leaving, it just seems like a meeting that is better off as an email or held once-a-week, which I’ve experienced for a few brands and nothing of value was lost.

Am I wrong? Naive?

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me figure out if I’m getting a decent offer for a job? It’s for a content strategist role at a small agency in Chicago. I don’t have experience in the specific job role but I do have certifications + skills that would be relevant for the position. The offer is 50k salary w/ benefits but I’m not sure if I should attempt a salary negotiation as I’ve never done one before. I would have to move into the city and it just doesn’t sound feasible.

Is leaving after AC /A /BA to VC a reasonable path? Or do you normally need more experience before you can go to VC? TIA!!!

Is it normal when leaving a company to offer to do consulting work after you're gone?

I'm leaving a company after 6.5 years and have a wealth of institutional knowledge unique to me, plus personal relationships there I want to preserve. I'm anticipating anything from one-off questions to guidance for bigger projects.

I don't mind staying in touch and helping, but don't want to be taken advantage of. What's a fair rate for work like that after you've left a company?

How much of your work day is actually getting work done? Is it common to feel unmotivated after lunch time? I have 1-2pm blocked for lunch. My mornings are usually standup/meetings. Then focus time is usually scheduled after 2, but by then I just wanna go outside and take a walk or something from all the sitting, or I do company training courses, or sync again with other ppl on prev work.

Near the end of the week (like Thurs tmrw), I feel like I haven't gotten anything completed at all 😞

What to do when an employer changes the terms of your offer after joining and refuses to match the offer?
I left a well positioned job to join this company and now find that equity is not scheduled as clearly detailed in the job offer and I am set to lose in double digits.
Contract does not contain equity schedules so this is not something I could’ve found out before hand.
I like the company but this is eating me inside out.
