Interviewing for a security assurance analyst position with Twilio and some of the stuff I’ve been reading makes me nervous. Any Twilio people here that can speak to overall company culture and work/life balance?

The pace is fast and the bar is high. That said, there is a big emphasis on balance. Everyone respects your life outside of work and we have small things like no-meeting Fridays.

If you’re having trouble or second thoughts - reach out to the recruiter you’re working with when I went through the process they helped me out and set me up with other people (outside of the process) to talk to.

Just an example: I left mid day during a huge project to go to my kid’s parent teacher conference. No questions asked and was told to have a good weekend.

You will be busy, but when you need focus time or time away to take care of life - you’ll have the support.

Been at twilio for less than a year but it's the best place I've ever worked. Culture is great though there are issues due to massive employee growth over the last few years but overall it's great. Security is of utmost importance in this space so I'd imagine there may be some pressure but I'd imagine less than at a smaller company. Everyone I've met here has been super helpful all while being remote.

At the end of the day I think you should trust the feeling you’re getting from the interview process. I’m connected with a few people on LinkedIn who work there and seem to really enjoy it. I’m sure experience varies from person to person but it’s definitely possible to have a positive experience.

I think that’s a good perspective. I’m just going to do my best to be thoughtful with my questions and get the answers I need to make a good decision.

Haven't heard anything too terrible. Just that it can be a bit fast paced over there thats all.

I have a connection that only worked there for 9 months (quit two weeks ago) - just said the company culture wasn’t a good fit (I know that’s vague)

I think Twilio is one of those company cultures in which a person is either going to thrive or be miserable. I would ask questions and try to get a sense of it during the interviews.

It's a growing company so there will be pressure. But I am sure there will be support when needed. Did you end up taking the offer?

I am product designer with a fair amount of experience (6yrs).

Recently was interviewed for a Sr. role in Booking but unfortunately the team finds me better suited as a core individual contributor.

I am also in the advanced stages of some lead designer positions in other companies.

However I am really interested in joining the team at Booking, especially because of the design culture.

What should be my reasons to accept or not accept the offer from booking?

Hi Sharks,

I applied for the position of Consulting - HC - Organization Transformation - Instructional Design - Sr. Consultant in June this year. Over the next 2 months cleared all the rounds (confirmed by HR). Yet to receive an offer.

Got an email 15 days ago from HR (after following up) that they are still "awaiting approval from leadership". Is their hope or should I let this go? Is the hiring freeze still on?

Thanks in advance!@@

I'm currently an SE for a no-code platform, in which I work professional service hours as a technical person at the company. I sometimes work with integrations and build API requests and such to grab/send information across other applications.

My question is, what are the most ideal technical skills that a top tier Solutions Engineer should have? I'd like to hone my skills on new tech, specifically things that can help advance my knowledge as an SE and create career security.

So, it's super obvious not to use "Police" in ads and activations, right? Like, we all know not to dress actors as police and have them "bust" people who have the wrong product, right?

SEEKING ADVICE (product management)

I say I work in product management, but really all I do is understand the business requirements, tell them to developers, check what different developers are up to and facilitate their communication.

I know this is part of a PM role, but I don’t possess any strong technical knowledge or know any methodologies. My company does not follow any development methodologies as well, and just get things running “logically” and “agile”.
