Interviewing for a security assurance analyst position with Twilio and some of the stuff I’ve been reading makes me nervous. Any Twilio people here that can speak to overall company culture and work/life balance?

The pace is fast and the bar is high. That said, there is a big emphasis on balance. Everyone respects your life outside of work and we have small things like no-meeting Fridays.

If you’re having trouble or second thoughts - reach out to the recruiter you’re working with when I went through the process they helped me out and set me up with other people (outside of the process) to talk to.

Just an example: I left mid day during a huge project to go to my kid’s parent teacher conference. No questions asked and was told to have a good weekend.

You will be busy, but when you need focus time or time away to take care of life - you’ll have the support.

Been at twilio for less than a year but it's the best place I've ever worked. Culture is great though there are issues due to massive employee growth over the last few years but overall it's great. Security is of utmost importance in this space so I'd imagine there may be some pressure but I'd imagine less than at a smaller company. Everyone I've met here has been super helpful all while being remote.

At the end of the day I think you should trust the feeling you’re getting from the interview process. I’m connected with a few people on LinkedIn who work there and seem to really enjoy it. I’m sure experience varies from person to person but it’s definitely possible to have a positive experience.

I think that’s a good perspective. I’m just going to do my best to be thoughtful with my questions and get the answers I need to make a good decision.

Haven't heard anything too terrible. Just that it can be a bit fast paced over there thats all.

I have a connection that only worked there for 9 months (quit two weeks ago) - just said the company culture wasn’t a good fit (I know that’s vague)

I think Twilio is one of those company cultures in which a person is either going to thrive or be miserable. I would ask questions and try to get a sense of it during the interviews.

like

It's a growing company so there will be pressure. But I am sure there will be support when needed. Did you end up taking the offer?

Any ideas for switching from an EA role to something else. I feel like I’ve been doing this long enough and am looking for more of a work/life balance without having to take significant pay cut. I’m contracting with a company in an admin role, but sometimes I’m asked to do projects that would normally be outsourced to a marketing or design company like designing a flyer for example. It’s not in my job description, but I have the skills to do this work and so why not ask me to do it? Is it out of the question to ask if I can be paid for that work under a separate fee as a consultant or something? Is that even possible?

Hello Everyone!!! I hope you all are doing good and staying safe.

I was considering if there are any opportunities in the Operations/Supply domain in a team management role for the Kolkata location.

I have work experience of 5 years in team handling roles in Sales and Operations, YOE 6 years. In sectors such as Consumer Durable, B2B E-commerce & Logistics.

I will be glad if you can wire me up with any current opportunities. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks & Take Care

So I haven’t had an official interview, but I forwarded my resume to the dept head for an internal job posting. A day later she asked my salary requirements I gave them to her and have heard nothing back. Do I follow up? Do I be patient? Thoughts… offer received from FAANG. The HM was to connect w/ me & didn’t reach out. I sent another email and then connected. Red flag 1. The lack of follow up. Next sent email on a question & said would get back to me ASAP. 10 days later, no response. Red flag 2. I sent another email & also asked about my first day as I have no agenda and need them to set up laptop. No response. My 1st day is Monday. Red flag 3? I know they are busy but should I be worried?

Hi! Does anyone have advice on negotiating base salary for a role _when you know there are salary bands_?

I have the offer from a non-FAANG (via recruiter), and the hiring manager told me on the side that the number m is at the top of their range as far as he knows.

I’m pretty solid with negotiations but have never been in this type of situation before. If anyone has tips that would be great.

PS would really like to get base number up rather than PTO/equity/other benefits! ty!
