Interviewing for a temp to perm position. What gives? Am i doing myself a disservice? It’s a huge brand, but I’d be leaving benefits and all behind. Are temp to perm usually genuine?

Temp to perm rarely pans out. If you need money, take the gig for now, but keep looking for a true perm position while doing it

If the trial period is short (a month) then it's genuine. If it's longer than a month, they're bullsh!tting you

I had this once and it didn’t pan out. Felt I was lied to, but who knows exactly.

There are a lot of reasons a company uses this strategy to fill the role. Maybe they are expecting work but it isn’t certain yet? Maybe they have a hard time assessing skill until the person shows it on the job. Maybe they are uncertain about how the role is structured. Each have a different set of risks for you coming in. I think it would be fair to ask the recruiter what the company hopes to assess during the “temp” period of the role

Sorry HR Dir - but just about all of those things can be assessed after hiring a person full time because we are all "employed at will" and can be released at any time. In my experience the longer the temp period the less of a chance of being hired full time. 2 weeks to a month tryout is more than enough to make sure the person is as advertised.

My current agency frequently does this with creatives and project management. Some stay just for a while and some do get hired on full time, but unfortunately it seems the timeframe to full time is often 6 months or so.

Why is Product Management an exit opportunity so many consultants want? Are most people more aware of what PMs do? I initially found myself wanting to exit to PM as well without a hard understanding of what product managers do, the pros/cons, their varying roles (strategic vs execution vs user experience), lifestyle, etc. Hell, I’m still doing the research now.

My boyfriend of 3 years makes about 2.5x my salary (I also have student loans and he doesn’t). He thinks we should continue splitting expenses 50/50 (rent, groceries, date nights, etc). This is someone I plan on marrying, and I’m financially savvy but feel like I’m SO behind with my means/money goals compared to where he’s at. Curious to know how others approach shared expenses with their SOs? I’ve gotten a lot of mixed advice on this from friends and would love to hear more opinions.
