While giving the tech interview as well as while having the HR discussion, I mentioned my expected CTC as 9-10 LPA(CTC). I cleared the interview and uploaded all the documents in the portal yesterday. Today mrng all the document verification was completed. But when I got the call for offer discussion, she asked what u expect. I said 9-10 LPA. She questioned me that on what basis I am asking for this much hike. She offered me 6.3 LPA as CTC with 21% variable. 5.2 as basic. Rest part in comments..

I made it through the first interview round with a company. During the interview, they asked if I’d be interested in another legal role and I said yes. I never heard back after that and they hired someone from my firm who is more senior than me for the job I originally applied to. I just saw the other position that they mentioned to me in the interview is not yet filled. Should I apply? I’d like to - I guess my worry is that I may have already been considered for that role.

Younger brother is getting a JD/MBA at an ivy, received two offers: (1) associate attorney role at a T5 law firm (serving tech clients - IP Law) and (2) Product Manager at a FAANG (he has a BS in Computer Science, also from the same ivy). He asked me for guidance in deciding which career to pursue. The comp at the law firm is $45K more. I flip flop every day in my advice to him. Any high volume corporate recruiters out there? I need advice, I have about 130-150 reqs, but about 300 open positions. I’m managing ok, but I’ll be passing off some of my sow soon because its not sustainable long term. One of my decks has about 100 reqs, and +\- 130 positions, the other 30-50 reqs holds almost 200 positions. So lower req load but more positions, or higher req load, less positions. It’s up to me to decide and I can’t choose :( plus I love all my hiring managers so it’s personal.

What negotiation tactics have you used that actually worked? Every job I keep asking about more PTO, a little salary increase or a signing bonus but it never goes anywhere.

What is the point of having 10 rounds of interviews, if your interviewers can’t take a judgment call after 2 rounds then maybe you hired the wrong people.
