Interviewing with Elixirr next week for a (Senior) Consultant role in NYC; recruiter connected me to opportunity. Concerns are that they do more execution than strategy and quoted compensation at $115K might be lower than industry average. Would appreciate any insight on reputation and career development prospects.

Current employee here. I'd say that's standard/good for compensation, the firm I was at prior (a big one) paid lower at the Consultant level. With the stock plan and such compensation definitely comes out ahead here. Career growth and development is the top reason to join. Nowhere else that I know of provides as much support for below manager resources to get real "expertise recognition" in terms of the firm helping to publish your ideas as white papers, or helping you build a new offering.

In terms of execution vs strategy, I'd say there's a healthy mix. Currently some longer term projects do involve delivery to stand up the strategy we designed. The firm definitely is more strategy-led than just an implementation body shop.

That's pretty standard

Sometimes I think I want the decision made for me... then I’d feel less guilty about focusing my energy in looking for exit opps.

But from people I’ve seen, most consultants exit to industry/mature companies. Is there a reason why more aren’t going towards startups that I’m missing?
