I would recommend to look up the backgrounds for the people you’re interviewing with and find a way to connect your experience with their work/ articles they’ve come out with. Sorry if this obvious and you already know this 🤓

it was a good reminder to try and dig a little deeper! thank you :)

They’re going to be more focused on your work experience than an OCI callback. Make sure you can talk confidently about all of your experience at your current firm. When I’m interviewing candidates for lateral positions, that’s what I’m usually focused on. I look for someone who knows what they’re doing because I don’t want to be stuck training a lateral (and neither does the partner).

I interviewed recently at a big brand. I was cut after the 1st in-person round. As disappointing as it was, I asked recruiter for f/b. They actually replied w/honest f/b I can use going forward 😃

During the pandemic I lost my job and was desperate. I found a 5 month tax law internship to full hire and applied.
Description: “$20/hr to JDs, $15/hr to JD students”.
This was our convo.
Me: …I graduated from law school a few months ago…
Interviewer: so I’ll be paying you $15/hr if you’re hired… I’ll let you know in a week
Me (in no position to negotiate): umm… okay
*3 months later*
Interviewer: You’re hired! However it will now be an unpaid internship, are you still interested?
Me: *ghosts*

Has anyone moved from attorney, to in-house at a company (more legal compliance/HR then the legal department), stayed there for a while, and then transitioned back to being an attorney? I’m thinking about taking a Human Resource position/compliance roll (employment law is my background) but I’m worried that in the future it will look bad on my resume if I want to transition back into being an attorney if I dislike the HR/compliance position. I’ve been practicing 2 years.

Hello, I am trying to prep for my Amazon interview for a BI engineer position. I am trying to come up with SQL and Python questions that the hiring manager could potentially ask me and I was wondering if any advisors or recruiters on Fishbowl could suggest on topic that I need to focus on.

Also, if there is any Amazon employee's or recruiters that I connect and get some advices would be a tremendous help.

Thank you

Have been working with EY for last 1.5-2 years now. Took two promotions till date.
With the current promotions and current talks of hikes to be given without salary correction (matching certain industry standards)

I have got an opportunity from another big-4 matching more than EY's band (9.5-10.5 at con. 1) to about 13 per annum.

Really happy with the growth here at EY but money also matters. Shall I be taking this leap?

Curious to know what everyone's strategy is in terms of scheduling exams?

I have been trying to follow Becker's timeline based on how many hours i can allot for studying every week (chose the most conservative) and then scheduling my test at the end of the range based on when results will come out.

While waiting for results, do you take a break from studying? Start studying for the next test?

Hi all! I currently live in LA but my wedding next year will be in my hometown of Chicago. I plan to go wedding dress shopping soon in both LA and Chicago. If I find my dream wedding dress in Chicago, I’d like to order it to be shipped to a store in LA so that I can have my fittings throughout the year without having to travel back to Chicago. However this also means I would have to fly to Chicago with my wedding dress. Has anyone been in this situation before? If so, how was the experience?

Thoughts in continuing to rent in a small town just outside the city and staying remote vs moving to a bigger city and paying significantly more? Make 100k, paying 1k/mo in rent, maxing 401k, roth IRA, HSA, and extra in brokerage. No plans of buying a house (want to keep renting for flexibility as I invest the rest but obv can change down the line).

Worth it to slow down FIRE path for a bit for longer term career growth and accelerate it in a year or 2? Anyone else go through this thinking?

Thoughts from seniors/partners would be appreciated. I'm the senior in my team & have a junior that is actively pushing people out of the team to better position themselves. The junior's now convinced 2 associates to leave in just as many months and is strongly pushing another out (admitted to convincing them that the team/partner is toxic, PE is not for them, even making referrals to other firms). Should I say something to the partner? What can actually be done, if anything?

It’s great for me professionally, so I think I should I should just bite the bullet and pay. There is another one that I want to attend for some additional exposure (and I want to speak there in the future). Another $4k in expenses.
