Interviewing with some companies - despite great feedback at interviews, they are all trying to slot me in at an independent contributor level or an level lower than my current. Feeling frustrated - male colleagues are getting lateral positions or a level above current. Need I mention I am also up for promotion at current firm. Has anyone experienced this? Is this bias or just a symptom of the Covid economy?

Both. I'm sorry.

You may need to change how you discuss your work. Research shows that women tend to use collaborative language and that can work against them in situations like these. Women will say "we" instead of "I" which can make you sound more like a doer/worker than a manager/leader.

Suggest using the STAR model and focusing on on your tasks and your actions and the specific impact of your contributions whenever possible.

Good luck!

As a hiring manager (for interns), would you find it weird if your incoming intern asked specific questions about dress code? He just sent a bunch of info regarding the first day and I’m thinking of replying asking about if a tie is a must or not. Interviews were through teams so haven’t had the chance to see how people dress.

Hi girls,

I joined the current company when I was about 2 months pregnant and they were extremely welcoming.. My baby is now 2+ years and we are planning to have another baby soon. What are your views on opting for the maternity leaves 2nd time within 3.5 years of joining the company? Would it reflect badly on me? Btw, I'm a high perfomer at my company and have also had a promotion recently. I am feeling too guilty but baby no.2 is also a priority given the age factor and the fertility concerns

Whoever said employers don’t care about grades and transcripts after your first job was a liar. Every lateral position that I’ve applied to as a 3rd year has requested transcripts. Why do we lie and tell grads that employers don’t check transcripts when they do. My coworker, a 5th yr, had to submit his transcripts also to lateral job. Side note - it speaks volume when multiple associates are trying to lateral at the same time

I have been approached by 3 separate HR people at a startup company to interview for a position. I already have a fulltime job that pays well and I only started 6 months ago too. Anyways, the pay was intriguing and the job was a high level scientific advisor so I did interviews. At the last interview, at the end I was told the job was for management but I prepared for a different kind of interview. I am waiting for an offer or rejection letter. I feel peeved that they wasted my time. Red flags?

How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving. I find the code base to be very legacy and I mostly work on obscure bugs that I spend so much time on, mostly due to navigating this large code base and not having much docs to refer to. Hence I find the job slightly unsatisfying, and that I could learn more elsewhere. However, I love the wlb, the team and company culture. The guilt stops my applying.

Hi Sharks, I had an interview with Tata Consultancy today and cleared the TAG round by answering all their questions. So here my query is, based on my performance will they offer me a hike of 100% or more from my CCTC, because this role is too relevant to my domain and technical knowledge so that I don't wanna miss out on this.

CCTC - 6LPA
YOE - 5

Good morning..
I joined Ey gds last week.. YOE- 4 years in KPMG. KPMG may take me back with better hike and promotion. I'm not sure. But a few got call back. So, what would I do? Accept the better package and promotion or be in EY? OR is it possible to resign within one month from EY?

Thanks folks
