Interviews aren’t my thing.. I have terrible anxiety and feel like my brain is mush when they ask me to tell them about myself. I forget who I even am. So.. with that being said, I applied for a huge step up at my company and I am TERRIFIED of the interview. It makes me sick thinking about it. Do you have any tips on how to nail an interview? Do’s and don’t’s? What keeps you calm? How to answer questions you don’t know the answer to? Thanks in advance!

Personally, I like to prepare ahead of time for interviews. I take the time to write down some 'potential questions.' Then I actually type out what my answers will be. This helps me figure out my thoughts before the interview.

My lack of confidence and imposter syndrome only comes out 10 times more when job hunting. That being said, what I do is approach the interview less as an evaluation and more as a conversation. I'm open to asking questions and participating more in the interview as a person. More importantly, find time to practice practice practice! Do mock interviews in the mirror and even with friends and family. The more you practice, the more comfortable you’ll be. You got this!

Try to remember that they’re human too and this is just a conversation between two people. If you remind yourself that you’re equals and, if you are the right fit, they need you just as much as you need them, it will rebalance the power dynamic.

So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
