Inventory count about 2 hours away next week. Apparently I’m not allowed to expense lunch because I’m not staying overnight. Does this sound right?

Uh I'd expense it 4 hours of travel from the office = out of town.

Ask for forgiveness, not permission.

I mean an inventory count that is going to take all of 4 hours isn’t worth you charging through a lunch when you’ll technically still be within an 8 hour working day. Learn to pack, it costs less.

funny

Yes

Yup. Sounds correct.

Yeah, fortunately EY would not let me expense lunch when I was on a client 2+ hours away but the mileage money was great so I didn’t really mind

No

Next time don’t ask if you can 😉 good thing you have a paycheck to buy lunch now

What do you have to be there in the morning? PwC used to have a policy where if you have to leave by 6 or 6:30, you can get a room.

Are we seriously talking about a $10 lunch? What’s your materiality? Come on, guys.

No, you can’t expense lunch because now they’ll be looking for it. On the other hand, you do have four hours worth of mileage to play with. Just saying...

2 hours really isn’t that far just for one day

AM1 I wouldn't get in the habit of breaking expense policy, esp as a manager, as you mention its not really worth it for 10 bucks. That said people expense this plenty of times so its more between you and your team.

I heard EY wasn’t allowed to expense lunch anyways? Or is this not true?

My sister wants me to pay for my father's hospitalization and related costs

My parents planned a trip to the US and never told me. My sister helped then plan. In the US, my father fell sick and had to be hospitalized. They did have travel insurance but there were still a lot of out of pocket expenses and other expenses related to rescheduling tickets, etc.

My sister contacted me once she got the bills and told me "as their son" I should be paying for everything.

I feel weak. I’m not (work out 3-5 days/week, strength and cardio mix, eat relatively healthy with protein, veggies, and 1 glass of water almost every meal) but I feel like my body hurts more than usual. Wfh for almost 2 years certainly hasn’t helped and with the omicron variant, I’m finding myself inside more than I have been the past 4-5 months. I’m basically going from sitting all day to working out then back to sitting. How do you stay “strong”?

Could you please suggest a good health insurance plan for my parents (Dad-59, Mum-54)? I've heard Max Bupa is very popular but I compared its benefits with ICICI Lombard and the latter seems to be better.

Just out of curiosity, how many cases should a brand new attorney (ideally) be assigned? I’m a month in and still majorly adjusting since the partner I’m working under is working remotely (alongside most of the staff) and find myself up to thirty-one cases and also helping out the partners on a few other matters. I’m just feeling really overwhelmed and I already know my billables are ridiculous for a new attorney in a small firm. Thanks
