Investment question: would you invest in a 1bed 1 bath apartment in Jersey city or 3bed 2bath home in Austin (both priced around the same)

I live in Seattle, so pretty far from both cities.

I’d say Austin. The city is growing and if you find good tenants, then you’d have a good passive cash flow.

I’d buy two 1 bed 1 baths in Austin. Or a duplex. Want to capitalize on growth op in Austin but not compete w people who would rather just buy a home (aka most ppl looking for a 3 bed+)

I would imagine with maintenance the cap rate is really low on the JC place no?

It depends - both are going to be high appreciation markets but potentially not the best for cash flow (high property taxes). If you are okay with breakeven or even a slight negative cash flow in return for the appreciation, then I say go for it. Idk about NJ, but the rental market in Austin is not so great as most people can buy

What would be the reasonable price range for this house if we have ~400k saved for down payment at the moment? TYIA!

Now I’m a Director with only a generalist under me so I get bogged down with the tactical stuff but I’m wondering am I missing out on what a Director level person should be doing.

Hi all,

Hoping someone could advice on it. I recently accepted a job offer and it has been discussed and confirmed via email/phone that my starting salary is £26k and will raise to £28k after 6 months probationary period. Now, I have been sent the contract but there’s no specific statement about the £28k salary after probation.

It might be a stupid question but I am worried about raising this as an issue. Is this normal? Or is it better to ask for a revised contact with the specifics?
