IP boutique versus IP at an AmLaw firm. Has anyone worked at both and which did you prefer?

Big law. More resources to spend on quality work on projects with clear commercial relevance and impact. Beats my experience being expected to do everything cheaper and faster with a higher fraction of underfunded clients at a boutique.

This. I have far better work life balance at my big law job and I’m compensated much better.

Preferred big law 100x over.

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on data science consulting firms. I'm trying to understand the types of projects and skills set gained while working on those teams.

Some firms that I have come across are: Mckinsey Advanced Analytics, Quantum Black, BCG Gamma, Bain Advanced Analytics, PWC Analytics, EY Economic and Modeling, KPMG Analytics, Fractal Analytics, Deloitte Analytics, Mu Sigma, and Accenture

How do you feel about getting homework for jobs?

We're altering our interview process to eliminate a homework assignment we give to candidates. It's about 2 hours of varying difficulty questions.

The VP wants to replace it with a 1 hour pair programming exercise because he thinks experienced candidates won't bother with homework. A lot of my experienced colleagues would be fine with the homework as long as it was within reason.

What's the consensus? Homework or nah?

How much salary should ask as 10 yoe in Capgemini ? How is the salary structure and job security there?

Hello! It seems this bowl is not very active but I'd like it to be. So here's my story: Born & raised in PR, moved to CA for undergrad & have been here since then. I graduated from law school in 2019, followed by a 2 yr bk clerkship. I did the evening program. I really enjoyed law school, in spite of the microaggressions, the late nights, & crazy competition. Love all things diversity in the law. Anyway, currently looking for a position in NYC/DC area. 🤗

How do you all take care of things outside of work? The last thing I want to do after being hyper-organized at work is figuring out my budget or retirement plan or scrubbing the bathtub or figuring out what to buy at the grocery or planning a vacation. I feel bad putting this all on my husband and how would I even have the energy to raise kids??
