6th year of practice. I need to get out of insurance defense. Probably would prefer to be out of litigation in general. I also need to get out of south Florida/Florida in general because my salary is not great compared to the high cost of living in my city and I haven’t been able to find any other reasonable paying job. Been looking on and off for 5 years. Prospects are extremely poor. My question is: what are some good JD-preferred career paths or lateral opportunities I should explore?
Curious to benchmark—(1) what is your annualized rent as a % of your annual base salary and (2) what is your annualized savings/retirement/brokerage as a % of your annual base salary?
Serious question and I’m not a lawyer so no one come for me. Is there any legal action that could be taken to make them payout our unused vacation? Class action lawsuit? I mean this vacation is literally included as part of our total compensation in our benefits summary. We are for lack of a better word, ENTITLED to it. I don’t know where I would look to see what the options would be.
Have any NYC-based 🐠 purchased a house or apartment with your consulting salary? I'm looking but 500k+ seems insane for a 1-2br apartment, especially considering tax and maintenance = 2K+/month
Y'all know what's up other than salary research? Layrngitis.... Layrngitis is up. *Screams with no voice* 🥺 Was muted in meetings... Now in real life too 😭
Twitter thread regarding Microsoft employee salaries, it’s the same thing everywhere folks. Particular the tweet that says employees leave for Amazon/startup to boomerang at a higher salary https://mobile.twitter.com/i/events/1172594652018614282
I have been a Sr Product Manager post consulting. I have a hypothesis that the new comers all have higher compensation than the old farts do. Just want to see if anyone else got an offer to confirm?

Significant salary reduction. Asked not to reduce my hours so that I can get my salary back sooner. Tempted to make a move, but not sure what hiring climate is like or whether it’s the right time.
What’re your thoughts on lockstep comp models? My preferred approach is lockstep comp with a performance-based bonus.
Question to associates — What do you value most in a firm, as in what are you most looking for in a firm long-term?
Hey, ladies! They always say, “there’s plenty of fish in the sea.” Looks like these days the fish are in the Work/Life Coronavirus bowl. (At the very least it’s good for a laugh.)

After a 6 hour journey, my Uber driver takes the back roads from DCA to Reston and refuses to take the toll road even though I said I’ll pay for it. No breakfast and staring at a long day. FML!

With Bitcoin segwit locking in tomorrow I see Bitcoin will hit 4k in next two weeks. All alt coins will raise along with that, esp, ant shares- might reach 35$, while ether stays flat till November. After ETH moves to proof of stake it shoots to 400$. What do you guys think?

Comp at D this year at 2YOE and Promo: 85k. Comp at D at 4.5YOE based on friend: 101k. Comp offered by tech company last month not in CA:185k How are these firms going to retain any analysts after this year?
True story here: I was a first year AC (or analyst to be comparable to other firms). It was the end of the year, a few weeks before my final review. I was in a meeting room with my supervisor (a senior consultant), the partner, a C-Level client and three of her managers. I was about to present her the results of the project. Then I plugged my computer to the projector and my wallpaper was on the big screen - a photo I took at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. In the 0.5 second between my wallpaper shows up and I press F5 to start the presentation, the partner said: "look at that picture! If you can't make it to consulting, you should try to be a photographer". A great way to kick off the meeting lol.
Has anyone had luck switching to industry and received a big salary bump with it? I'm curious what industry/job role you had success with switching into for a pay bump.
