If everyone else in your group at your level is at 75%, it's great. If everyone else is 100% or more...it's not that great. The only thing that matters is where you are in comparison to your immediate coworkers.

@EY2, 40% as a 2nd year staff about to be senior? What the fuck do you do all day?

like

Shut up

like

I'm at 40%... I have to hit 85 and im up for senior.... guess im not getting promoted

like

I mean my month to date is 125% but I just started in October. So I'm wanting to know at the end of each year is 85% decent or do they want you at 100% for the whole year?

like

That ain't shit. Mine is level 9,000.

like

@Tax Associate 1, you're somewhere between Piccolo and agony so very impressive. Not quite ready for Vegeta.

like

@pwc2 mine was like 68% my first year and I still made senior after 2 years if that makes you feel better

like

@OP - you should have utilization/charge hour goals based on your market/staff level. For example, mine is 87% for the entire performance year knowing we have slowest months in the spring/early summer. Your % should even out over time but it's usually based on performance/fiscal year in bonus/promotion discussions. I'm sure you're fine!

like

Dude... mine is 115%

Seriously, I get used all the time.#bentover.

Do your work. Check in with people you're working with. If you're under YTD (enough to matter, not an hour and schedule the next day), reach out for work. Most of all chill. Somebody will let you know if you're fucking up.

I'm at 55%. First year started from August. I will be sooo happy if I have 85%

Someone's gotta be EY 3. Otherwise, we don't know who to hate.

@bdo1 bullshit

@bdo 2, I'd agree but I'm a little over 100% (barely - varies between 100-101). Not BDO though. 115% would kill me so I agree.

Lol @EY4 yessss

In light of all discussions on FB, it seems to me that individuals at our firm have been removed out of EY beyond PIP related issues. To help the community brace itself, please provide facts on your Utilization, level, leads, YoE at EY, and network. My experience seems that the ones let go, had weak network.

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

Thoughts on leaving PA primarily due to the metrics based culture (utilization, dtc, use of X digital tool, revenue, margin, etc). I find this aspect of PA stressful and exhausting but not sure if this is something you just get used to. Currently a manager and seems like the metrics just change over time / don’t get easier.
