Is a 12-month non-compete agreement normal for a corporate director level role?

Joined back TCS after Sabbatical leave (higher education).

Current designation is System Engineer and role tagged on Ultimatix is Developer.

Assigned to a project as BA (orally, on paper it's just Team Member). Raised a re-fitment request to HR.

Please throw some light on the re-fitment process and what I can expect depending on my qualification.

Qualification:
> TCS : QA/Jr.BA (3yrs)
> M.Sc : CS (University of Alberta, Canada)

Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? Discussion post: I feel almost all consulting firms are the same. Mbb, big 4 etc. if you are paid enough there is probably less wlb. If there is good wlb there is not much money. Can you single out a company that you can confidently say pays very well and also has good wlb and also has good opportunities etc.?
