Is a 3 hour flight delay due to “air traffic control limiting the number of planes allowed” worthy of asking for points?

ATC delays of that magnitude are typically caused by weather (plenty of those issues today), issues like radar or FAA system outages, or an aircraft emergency at the destination. As these are outside the airlines’ control there is usually little basis to award miles.

I just kinda assumed it was a generic excuse. So do they actually openly admit when it is their fault? Cause I doubt you’d be getting a push notification saying “we need to inspect our engine so we’re delaying your flight” or “waiting on flight attendants to arrive"

One thing to realize is that the FAA audits airlines on the delay reason data quality, and it’s particularly easy for them catching an airline claiming an ATC delay when in fact the reason was an internal issue. However, there is wide variance on how much they tell customers about the details of the delay, and that is the source of most customer frustration. When I worked as an airline dispatcher, lying about delay reasons was a fireable offense because it can bring significant FAA fines.

ATC delayed numerous flights today. Welcome to summer delays!

I was shocked when I first realized Chicago has worse air traffic delays from weather in summer than in winter

seriously?

Uhhh, yeah dude?

Question for you all: Left D to Company A for a 50% raise in TC and slated to start in <1 week. However, just got an offer at Company B for a 100% raise in TC compared to D, or 30% raise in TC compared to company A. Both firms do similar work but B provides a more solid comp package. Job duties would be relatively similar. Is the % jump worth burning the bridge? Would have chosen Company B if the offer came sooner but the % difference in A to B is at my [personal] 30% threshold. TIA!
