Yes, assuming you’re a S1/S2. That’s $2k more than I make as a SC1 in B4 Advisory in LV (was a campus hire so shafted on comp and no bonus in first year at SC).
They’ll shove the low cost of living in LV right in your face, not much you can do to talk around it. Best advice is to try to work in a few grand in relocation assistance.
70k is reasonable in Las Vegas. I was making 69k base as an experienced senior in vegas
Gotcha.
I thought I would be able to negotiate a bit more in base salary in favor of the signing bonus, but these guys won’t budge at all.
I’d still be an S1 at this rate since I’m diving into a bigger market and would be auditing clients in a different industry. Also, they called the signing get bonus relocation assistance. Overall, I’m pleased with the offer. I was just wondering if it may have been under market value for the LV area.
What do you mean by top 25 firm? I thought there was only 4
Just hard to get a job within LV if you leave your initial employer. Not a ton of F500 there. If you are headed closer to family I respect that, it was farther for me. Good luck to you and the fam!
Not sure I agree that it's tough to get out of Vegas. I have friends who started at one of the major casinos (Cesars or Venetian) as analysts and they had easy transitions out. Also have some friends who have been very successful at these casinos. Not joking around about gambling. These casinos invest a lot into optimization and price analysis.
Vegas is where it’s at. I love it here. Also, 70K is a decent offer here Congrats!
Lol calling a signing bonus relocation is BS. Relocation expenses are deductible for the firm, I’d push for an additional couple grand to offset the cost of moving your things to LV as well as travel costs of getting you there.
Yes.
I mean a firm that isn’t PwC, EY, or Deloitte, but is ranked within the top 25 firms (in terms of revenue) in the nation per Accounting Today.
Careful moving to VegAs just for the $. It’s easy to get a job there but tough to get out. I used to work/live there but finally got out.
I’m moving for personal reasons (closer to home, not happy where I live now, etc.). On your point regarding difficulty in finding a job outside of Nevada. Is there any reason in particular you can point to the difficulty you had?
Not sure where I’d go if I end up liking Vegas. I just would hope I have decent exit opps if I stay till say, manager at this firm I’m going to.
Originally it was a $1,500 bonus. I’m pushing for a higher base salary, but these guys aren’t budging. I have a good chunk of change saved up for the move so I made final push for an additional $2,000 in base salary and just a $1,000 bonus. They’ll come at me with their final offer sometime today or tomorrow.
Please keep us updated
Will do.
UPDATE: These guys aren’t budging. They “stand by their offer, which they believe to be fair after their research."
