Partners/shareholders - how many hours are you expected to bill on work vs client dev and firm/associate management? My firm keeps saying that "there's no such thing as a relationship partner" and everyone top-to-bottom is expected to log 2000 hours/year on real billable work. Marketing etc is done on top of that. Is that normal?! If so, I'm going to have to totally rethink my life goals.

In a meeting we a client, we were looking at a stock image of a smiling Black man holding a baseball bat while wearing a hoodie. The client comments that it’s the wrong way to hold a bat. Cool. But, then follows up and says, “Also, he just looks aggressive. Like, this person would definitely attack me and my family.” I was shocked. But, apparently, I was the only one. Because everyone else on the call laughed. They were all white except for my partner who is Mexican. But, he still chuckled.

So many tech people working as contractor in NIQ. Their mentality and behaviour with NIQ employees are service based micromanagement mindset and not willing to share the KT appropriately and also not responding properly.
Previously I have worked in service based org, there also company pushing us to not help their client employees.

You are absolutely going to see a range based on agency and media vertical. At the AD level, there should be the ability to lead a client engagement and supervise a few analysts.

In most cases the technical skills would be uber fluency in Excel and some of SQL, SAS, Tableau/Quik, Python, etc. Fluency in one type of media and working knowledge of another. A working knowledge of statistics and ability to do in depth analysis (solve unknown problems)

You will see some ADs who have come from client side or strategy roles (or even media roles) without the technical chops. It is what they make of the role and the team they are surrounded by - it can be good if they empower their team or it can be a disaster.

I was supposed to transition off my projects to another person/ switch, but apparently there was a separate conversation between the senior management and that person I would be internally supporting my old projects (aka now her projects). Meaning I get no credit for the work because my colleague is going to be the only client point of contact. But I’m the one doing all the work. Am I weird or am I actually being taken advantage of? Transition plan wasn’t even my choice. How do I approach this?

Due to wfh, we are going virtual for files. No redwelds. Not having paper makes me nervous but I recognize I need to adapt. Anyone have tips they’ve discovered to help the transition? Can IB peeps help me understand the hours you work. At 80 hours per week the following seem inevitable: High rate of errors or extreme drop off in productivity (most likely both). Emotional reactions. Poor decision making. Little to no creativity. Extreme sleep deprivation or no social life (likely both). Obviously the list could go on. I don’t see how it’s a net benefit to the employee or employer.

Genuine ask for advice: Ever since I joined ClearView (6months - 1 year tenure) I have stopped eating healthy, gained 20lbs, and struggle to find time in the day on weekdays to do anything beyond work. On > 70% of days I have been working till 8-9 pm (some projects even worse) and I am routinely frustrated by the fact that I can’t spend time with family (let alone friends) or just chill out over my evenings. I am burned out to the point that I feel like I need a few months off. Advice?
