No longer a requirement at EY. We are hiring people without it as seniors and they promote to manager.

Not required at many if not most firms.

Not required at GT

I just got an offer as a senior associate and wanted to confirm

When joining anywhere below manager, yes, since it’s a requirement to be promoted to manager. When hired above, there are exceptions like myself. SM hire from abroad and don’t have a cpa or foreign equivalent and many colleagues at my level with me.

It’s not contradicting; you can be hired below manager without CPA, but if you want a promotion to manager after that, you’ll need to get the CPA prior to promotion. However, being hired as manager and above, you can get a waiver for the CPA based on experience. This is going to change though and some offices already have.

Not at KPMG, Crowe, and RSM. Might be others but I've heard other firms are considering dropping the requirement.

I personally did not need one. Others on my team don’t have one.

Not required just can't make partner without it.

No. Many non-CPAs in the P/MD group, which have the Principal title.

Principals are not equity correct?

Are you required to keep it active in the big 4?

I mean the fee is the easy part lol. Got to do all the stupid CPEs, etc

How many of you all are getting the “you could make partner here”, “you are throwing away your opportunity for further career advancement” or “why would you go work for THAT client?” conversations when considering making a change from public accounting to industry? I feel like this is what all partners are going to say to try and retain people with busy season coming up but want to check. Anyone made the leap from PA to corp accounting and what has your experience been like?

I passed all four sections of CPA exam 3 months prior to completion of 1st year (Associate 1) experience in my current firm. Should I wait to complete 1 year here to apply for licensure or also ask another different CPA firm that I interned with (for 2 months) to sign my experience?
Well there is no rush for licensure. Wanted to see if there are any other things that I need to consider? TIA

Help. Followed partners from V50 to V50 couple years ago. Haven’t been able to generate business. Not getting enough work from other partners, but have received very positive feedback when I did. I’m now more senior. I’m sole breadwinner for family of 4. I feel I made a terrible mistake joining the partners. I feel my career is over. I feel that I am going to lose everything. I’m in a terrible mental state. Having terrible thoughts. Feeling alone and no one can help me. Is there any way out?
