I was offered a promotion but due to internal policies the max comp they could offer was way under market value. I countered and was denied. I took time to think about it, being disappointed I applied for other jobs. Monday came and I decided to accept the offer. A week before starting my new position I got a call for one of the jobs I applied for. I am now going through to the last round of interviews the same week I start my new position. Would it be bad practice to accept another offer now?

There have been a lot of posts in the law and big law blog about legal recruiter comp. It seems to range a lot (saw second-hand info from $60k to over a million). Also saw someone say the “average” recruiter makes more than a 5th year biglaw associate (which I think would mean $400k+). Can anyone provide ballpark numbers? Considering eventually moving to recruiting, but couldn’t leave to do it for $60k.

For students who don't fit the traditional Chem profile, we offer Chemistry in the Community (ChemComm) from the American Chemical Society. The SI is wanting to "reevaluate" our course offerings and make sure we have "the right class" going forward. So now I'm on a committee. Does anyone have any recommendations for entry-level Chem classes? Or do you use Chem Comm and recommend sticking with it? (we've had it for 20 years, but its my first year teaching it due to a retirement).

Question : I have two offers on the table. 1- 22.25/ hr - permanent position with benefits and vacation
2- 24.71 / hr - 12 month contract , 4% in leui of benefits , possibility for permanent

Both are 35 hours, same schedule .
Either decision will hurt someone. Whether it be coworkers or new employer.

Does anyone feel like exit opp prospects are seeming dimmer every year? I'm in a role where all my projects are on the "business strategy" end (revenue growth, operating model, etc.) and I spend all day running workshops, making slides, and crunching numbers in Excel. I don't think I've built any tangible skills (coding, financial modeling, etc.) in 3 years. When I look at roles for BizOps or PM, it seems like Investment Bankers and SWEs are in higher demand. Do y'all feel this way too?
