Rising Star
I’ve worked very hard to cut out um’s and uh’s from my speech…now I just sound stilted and slow lol. Going to put the um’s and uh’s back in.

preferable. moments of silence can be used to capture audience attention as well
Better to pause than to use filler like um, uh, and like.
There are other fillers you can use like “that’s a great question…,” “as I think about what I know thus far…,” “a few things come to mind here.”
I would just figure out what your natural smart filler is and use that if you absolutely have to when you’re nervous. I get nervous too and struggle not to use filler
Pauses allow you to gather and thesudience to process. Just try to be intentional with placement at the end of a complete thought to avoid appearing to have lost your train of thought (unless you have). In any case, silence is better than clutter. Not every second had to be filled with sound. Pace is also important.

Always better to pause then to say umm.
Even better to figure out the complete idea you're sharing before you speak rather than coming up with it as you go along.

Um, yeah
Way better….
Pause. Makes you seem introspective and shows you are listening carefully

Pause, it doesn't seem as long to your audience as it does to you.
Pause.
Peers with the unmmmmm problem really struggle! Don’t go there.
