Is a recession truly "on the horizon"?

I'm applying for new jobs and I keep reading a lot of articles of a possible recession in the future. However, today I saw reports of an increasing number of job openings.

Anyone else a bit confused? I'm not well versed in economic, or market-related things.

I recently accepted a new position (three months ago) and I excitedly accepted the first offer of the salary not knowing allll of the responsibilities that came with this position. I have opened the door about renegotiating my salary for this position and my boss was open to it. What research can I do to see the salary ranges for this position? It’s as a cash application specialist. This positions duties were held by 3 people and is now combined into 1 role.

I’ve received an unofficial offer from another company to start beginning of Oct. I should be receiving my offer letter after Labor Day. I’m working on a number of projects that finish end of Sept. I’m in IT in a large corp and I don’t know what to do. I’m the systems engineer and I planned around what I thought was a straight forward concept. It appears what I thought would be possible was wrong. Everyone celebrated thinking I’d figured it out, including me. Were spinning up a full team to build it and I’ve exhausted all avenues to find an alternative solution. There isn’t. Horrified this is a career limiting situation….
