Hi everyone! Curious if anyone here works for Slack and can shed a little light on the culture and perhaps offer a referral for an associate brand manager position I just saw on LinkedIn. With the Salesforce acquisition are SF employees allowed to refer for Slack roles? Currently a senior analyst with 4 YOE looking to break into a branding role! Thanks in advance.

I was looking at this too. Obviously a referral always helps, but it doesn't seem like you need one as an in for the position. Here's an article I found that shed some light on it: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/top-questions-i-get-asked-fb-rpm-shantell-williams
I do not believe you need a referral but sometimes people on here are willing to give one. If you want to do a post asking if anyone at Facebook would be willing to, you might find a couple folks who could help you out!
Great advice! Thank you! 🙏🏻
Those can be difficult. Have you thought about going for a direct PM hire?
The RPM program is designed for people who have some professional experience but not directly PM. If I tried to apply directly for PM I likely wouldnt get it without having direct experience prior
I didn't have a referral, but got an interview.
It's worth noting I didn't get the role (didn't even pass through the first round actually, which was two interviews). FWIW, it really seemed like I needed PM experience for their questions under the allotted time, which I didn't have.
I put a lot of hours into it. Did a lot of mock interviews. Listened to a lot of Product School podcasts and watched a lot of Exponent videos. Read the Decode and Conquer and CTPMI. You name it. LOL.
Matter of fact, I was able to land a lot of A/RPM interviews for Google, FB, Yahoo, Apple, Lyft, Pinterest and 4 other big tech companies, and nada. (Note this is not for direct PM roles, as someone suggested earlier; these were for people with little to no PM experience).
Multiple different companies, 0 offers, 0 feedback.
Funny enough, I just accepted a PM role at my current company (also a big tech company), making 112% of what an avg. PM makes in NYC.
Idk... Hope that speaks to something.
I wish you the best, however, I've found that the highest success is not just getting an interview with a great resume, skills, and experiences but a lot about having someone on the inside that's vouching for you.
I also hope this isn't discouraging, but more-so motivation to network with someone internally.
No referrals are allowed for the RPM program anymore
And honestly, with the volume of people who applied with a referral in the past, referrals were not helpful. Just apply early to get a better shot since it is rolling to a certain degree although every resume is read by a recruiter.
