If you have diamond you have access on domestic flights and if you are plat and up you have access when you are traveling international.
Lounge access is your own call. How much additional time are you spending in airports outside of the check in/security?
I didn’t know platinum was free for international ? Cool
Do you have connecting flights often? I usually just use 5k miles to get in, but if I end up needing it weekly, I'll just get the membership
I am diamond but never go there. Goal is to minimize airport time.
Amex platinum card gets lounge access regardless of status
You can also get it with the Delta Reserve card which gives you an individual membership and a companion pass for less than the cost of a regular membership.
As BCG1 said I try and reduce airport time to as little as possible when traveling for work.
Also really depends on the airports you are using. I was connecting through Dallas for 6 months and always got delayed so having AA lounge access was clutch
I like it when flying international. The new Delta Sky Club is gorgeous. About to head there now before flying to China. With Diamond it can be one of your 3 choice benefits. Wouldn't purchase it on its own though.
