The gifts were branded items from the BAH company store. The total price per person was a little over $30 to include tax and shipping. Today they were told that since this was not a company sponsored event, the group would have to split the cost among the leaders to pay for the gifts. I think this is tacky. Thoughts?

I met few folks for the first time at a party this afternoon, most of them are working in FAANG. Pretty much all of them introduced themselves as “I’m XYZ and I work at G/A/F as ABC Engineer”. This kind of baffled me considering this was a informal party and we were not their for work. Is this the new trend nowadays?
