What level should I expect at FAANG? I have a PhD in CS from a world top 10 university. I did a PhD after working 3 years in the industry, and since my PhD, another 3 years have passed. Currently I'm a staff engineer in the semiconductor industry (hence no FAANG). On seniority: 50% I'm acting tech & team lead, scrum master, regularly negotiating with stakeholders, across multiple teams etc., 50% actively developing. Options: generalist SWE at Google /Facebook (Meta) or embedded SWE at Meta.
How much would my tech stack and language be a factor in getting selected in faang or good product based companies?
I'm asking from getting my resume selected to getting an offer.
I read everywhere that only DSA and system design is needed, but I'm still concious about my tech stack.
YOE: 5 years
Tech stack: .NET backend and sql server
Language I'm comfortable with: C#
Facebook (Meta) Apple Amazon Netflix Google Uber Airbnb Atlassian Walmart

You’re not involved in engineering practices, your focus is on growth, prioritization, strategy etc
Interesting Google 1. So PMs at Google aren’t expected to be in daily standups, sprint planning, grooming sessions etc.?
Very cool! So where do you spend most of your time?
At places like Meta majority of requirements and solutioning are wholly owned by engineers
Interesting, if engineers own the solution, what do PMs own then? The roadmap only “what and when”?
