I have received a offer from Cerner for Technical solutions Analyst role. It's a support role on SQL and work timing is 5pm to 2 am. I was checking the reviews on Glassdoor and ambition box and i have read alot of bad reviews on management and dirty politics. After reading all this I am concerned if i should go ahead with the offer or not. Please advise how is the work environment, does management support learning and is their dirty politics within team? No. Its not all up or out. It depends on need, pipeline, what group you are in etc
Would you still want to be a Sr mgr when in 10 years your staff becomes your partner.
Room for all kinds. Your goals may change over time too.
That’s what MD/ED is for.. there are still ways to go up without becoming partner. Making partner isn’t for everyone. The clock does start ticking when you get to SM, but for most of the levels you can take as long as you need. That’s why I don’t understand why so many people have issues with career seniors.
At EY you can be executive director. That’s an end goal other than partner and is a pretty good deal (better hours than partner, less stress than partner, no where near as much money as partner, but more than SM)
I’d like to know too
Career seniors are not common, but can happen depending on needs (frankly most firms need seniors more than managers and up). With that said though, I think there will come a point where you will just feel like you’ve reached the end of the road in terms of career development and feel more than ready to move on. Just go with the flow.
Clock starts ticking at SM. You’re too highly paid to keep you as a mediocre SM. It’s up or out after 8 years of SM unless you have a very specialized/unique skill not easily replaceable in the market.
Career seniors hit a salary ceiling really early though
I would definitely want to get higher than senior, just see how much partners work and working that much once I have a family doesn’t interest me.
