So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

What are you a reporter? Patrick Coffee?
Not the end of the industry Patrick, but the lack of AOR accounts likely means agencies will have to employ their storycrafters in a different way.
@CW1 Haha no no. Let me just turn this tape recorder off. Don't worry there's definitely not another in my pocket.
Advertising, as it has been known, is dead. The largest advertising revenue companies — by far — are Google and Facebook; the old networks are way behind.
The industry is transitioning to a new model. Some will adapt and do well (or survive); many others won’t adapt and will disappear.
The good agencies will be around for a long while. But as brands divvy up their business and give agencies just a slice of the whole pie while also recognizing the convenience of in-house teams, the future looks bleak for most agencies. More pitching for less of the brand and less money.
I kind of hope it all ends so I don’t feel so bad about doing such shitty work.
The industry does need a shake up; something that shifts away from so many fee clients because that's where agencies are currently losing their lunch. My team was at 63% of scoped hours by May of this year.
Mostly B, people tend to talk about the bad stuff.
^^Doesn't this defeat all the scale and efficiency talk coming from the client side? #askingforafriend
They are endemic in a client service agency. We win and lose clients all of the time - no different than eras past.
Except you know, in house agencies, consultancies lalala.
