The real value add of an MBA is the network you can make through it (which starts giving ROI 5-10 years down the road).
If you can manage to make that network without an MBA, that’ll be better.
If at any point an MBA is actually "required" by a company for you to progress, they'll just cover you for one of those pay-to-pay executive MBAs. You see it a lot on the linkedins of Canadian execs.

MBA is just a relic of the 90s and just a networking tool for high finance types. In 2021 it’s better to be a coding nerd with data skills, zip up hoody and Ivy League college dropout or Stanford/cal tech/Waterloo grad. 😂

MBA is not required for any role out there — consulting or industry.
MBA is a good avenue to make a career change. Also, where there are a lot of candidates with similar experience and profiles, an MBA can be a tie-breaker if the hiring manager seems it to be.
No, to be honest after you’ve done ten years of consulting I don’t think an MBA adds a lot of value unless you’re trying to move into a different type of consulting - e.g. tech to business strategy.
