Those with experience with Bruichladdich Octomore series, why exactly are they priced what they are for low age statements besides hype? Looking for a good reason to pick up the latest offering ($230).
Tried Calumet Farm bourbon tonight and was not at all impressed. If you see it, don’t waste your $$$.
It’s an 80s-range bourbon in terms of proof but for the price, I’ve found 90s-range proof bourbon with much better flavor served neat.
Weller face-off tonight 😍

Legent is tasty! This bourbon is finished in red wine and sherry casks, and blended by Suntory Master Blender Shinji Fukuyo - who has experience with truly legendary distilleries Hakushu and Yamazaki. A bourbon with noticeable fruit, caramel, and vanilla elements — and a very good bourbon for $40 at Total Wine. I’d rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
Tonight's pour. Got this for $23, so figured why not. VERY light & you can really smell and taste the vanilla.
Today’s pickups 👍

I find ryes work well because they tend to be harsher and therefore you have the sweetness to cut through it.
I prefer rye - more spice notes that balance well with the sugar.
Prefer rye as well. Michters rye makes a good old fashioned. Or if you want to use a less expensive rye, Old Forresters is good.
If I use a bourbon I go with Buffalo Trace.
