Hello fellow Fishes I have an offer from persistent. Need some clarity on same. I want to know the grade system in persistent. What does 7.1 mean? Is 7.1 a right fit for an total experience of 10+ years? What is the appropriate CTC for an architect designation? I want to know if I am getting it as per experience.

Do you ever regret leaving agency life?
Yes, and echo all the above comments. I’ve begun to consider leaving marketing and jumping over to something like project mgmt or program mgmt, since I have some experience with that. Marketing is a tough industry to land offers without referrals, I’ve found
If you’re looking for a job in a small but growing marketing agency, please reach out. We are always looking for contract work, with hopes of turning PT or FT. If you’re interested, DM me with your years of exp, mode (remote, hybrid, IRL), title/job main areas of interest, and target hourly rate (I don’t want to waste your time if we can’t afford you :/). Even if it doesn’t work for us, I can always refer you to other people who are also looking. Bonus points if you are engaged in AMA, ANA, PRSA, etc.
Hey Marketing Director 1! Would love to connect! Acct Management/Strategist with 10 years of experience in creative (studio, creative and production) and media looking to jump into PM.
It’s not just you. It’s been challenging in the great resignation and now! I just landed a position and it took me 8 months.
Took me over a year. I almost gave up, then I got three offers at once. 🤷♀️

You're certainly not alone. I've been on the job search 2x in the past 18 mos. In that time, I've made contact with many other fellow jobseekers. The overall consensus is for 95% of jobseekers, it's a long, frustrating, demoralizing process, regardless of industry or economic climate.
That said, your own expectations, career situation, and job search strategy can make a big difference.

The first job search is hard to quantify, because there was some moving cities, pauses to do freelance gigs, and unclarity on my part of what I was targeting. I would say I began applying in earnest in Aug 2020. Applied to the position I landed 1st week of Jan 2021. Started the gig 1st week of April.
I was laid off 6 mos later... mid Sept. Fired up the job search again. Applied to the position I landed 1st week of Jan 2022. Started last week of March.
Definitely echo the sentiment, I went to final rounds with four companies and got rejected. Definitely hits your self esteem. Thinking of going to IC roles or a different function now as it’s been too long :(
Same but for (2) UX Designer positions with Fidelity. Nice group of people, rejection just stings a little, doesn’t it?
Not just you. I’m having the same issue with UX Designer positions and I’m massively qualified for these positions. I have 5 years of experience in it as well as a few years of Graphic Design experience which contributes to this. If anyone on here is from Schwab, let me know if you could get me a referral and then we can connect.
I currently work 3 jobs. Full-time, part-time & passively part-time as an investor. I’d like to narrow that down a little for my own sanity. Haha 😆
Same! I’ve been looking for a new Marketing position as well. It’s been really difficult
Also what are you looking for? Where? Remote?
Not going to lie and say my company is great—there’s too many politics and some micromanaging and half the people don’t know how to do the simplest tasks lately it seems, but the WLB is pretty damn good right now, everyone is remote, and it takes a lot to get fired so it’s amazingly stable. It’s not only you. I’m a social media manager and content creator.
I've had more success now with pay and title than pre-Covid on the agency side.
Landed at Visa in marketing not long ago after about 6 months of job hunting and personally feel I have what you're describing. Coming from a CPG brand background. It's a pretty flat organization so if you're looking for fast progression it may not be the place for you. But in terms of balance, decent budgets, welcoming people, decent salary, I'm happy.
There was definitely a long while of frustration leading up though. Feel like yes, lots of opportunities are technically still out there in marketing/brand but so is a lot of competition.
With over 25 years experience I am still struggling. Not sure what it takes to get hired in this environment.

Hate to say it, but ageism is alive and well, and at a certain point, that amount of experience can be a detriment. I believe some career coaches recommend only including the last 15 years of work history.
Not just you! As we go into recession it’s going to be more difficult. It’s getting challenging so maybe expand a bit your standards given the market…? Doesn’t mean it has to be permanent. Hang in there! 💪
agreeing with the majority — i’ve been experiencing the same thing as well. i’ve especially been noticing lots of output demands in job listings for very little compensation. i keep coming back to the concept of corporate companies not valuing their creatives. at my co specifically they value science and data way more than art and awareness, so we’re in a constant struggle to create cool shit and take risks, even though our revenue has consistently gone up since 2011. it’s kind of crazy.
i have seen a ton of contract and part time gigs coming up though!
Just got laid off today from a very steady 4 year long job. Looking for remote work now so I can raise a family
You are not alone.
Completely agree with all. I took an opportunity internally so I could get growth in a lower risk way, but I see no actual growth opportunities like I was sold. I am a little scared to fully go elsewhere with all this talk of recession but then again, no risk, no reward. I’ve always played it so safe in my career and want to change that but the timing feels bad.
During my last job hunt, I got 5 job offers, all from agencies, and only 1 brand side (only contract though). I barely got any interviews for brand side jobs at all. I’ve been at my new agency job for 2 months now and I’ve already regretted.
