Is anyone based out of NYC thinking of buying/ already bought a place outside in the burbs? What areas that are still accessible to the airports, would you recommend for under 500k?

Forest Hills is great. Less than 20mins to LGA and JFK, 4 subway lines, 2 Long Island Railroad lines, close to city, and nice/quiet neighborhood. Unfortunately, minimum $1mil for a house but you can buy apartments for less.

I personally like larchmont, mamaroneck, rye, harrison, greenwich, stamford - all on the coast. Once you cross into CT, you have lower taxes and express trains.

Yeah I get that. Same for me. Stamford would prob be my top choice for those reasons, but I live on the other side of the world right now. Hope to see you there someday!

I am! Native NYC resident and thinking of buying a weekend place upstate or in western CT. Assume it’ll be a schlep to either EWR, LGA, or JFK. Oh well.

Norwalk still has deals to be found and is on the north line

Everywhere is accessible to the airport if the airport is EWR!

I find that it’s harder to get to EWR unless you’re in midtown or already in Jersey. I prefer JFK/ LGA

Any thoughts on Greystone? Think it’s the northern part of Yonkers and has nice condos with pools and balconies facing the river

What’s the average % range for a pay raise for a high performing S1 to S2 in management consulting in a MCOL?

If goal now is to get into MBB (personally prefer McK) - which of the following will be the best option that’ll help me get there -

1. SC at Big4
2. Engineer role at Startup (salary +50% higher than big 4 SC offer)
3. Amazon/Amazon Ops role (salary similar if not higher than option 2)

Would greatly appreciate any insight from the community.

Hey everyone- So I didn’t get an offer for a consulting role that I had initially applied for, however the recruiter said all the feedback was positive and they’d like me to interview for a different role in the group. Are my chances of getting this other role a lot higher ? Thoughts? Thanks!

There are 2 people I can ask for a referral: manager at another office (different city) or senior associate at the same office. Is one better than the other for landing an interview?

Hi ladies, just in need of some encouragement or inspirational stories about pivoting to a new career. I’m at a large established brand name firm doing boring stuff& just got a strong offer (2x my last year TC+promoted title) to do real estate. Very surprised as the firm is relatively under the radar but intrigued to see many partners in RE there are women! Still, nervous about leaving a big recognizable place and about an absolutely different career path—would love to hear your thoughts!

Big4/ACN folks, would you rather take a promotion in current firm, or accept an MBB job offer but for a lateral role?

How do you structure your day to maintain responsiveness but still have time to actually get work done? I get about 50 emails per day if I had to guess. I find managing my email is a fill-time job. And not the one I wanted when I went into this profession. Any book suggestions, websites on productivity, your own strategies? I honestly have anxiety about work tomorrow mainly because I know I’ll be spending most of my day answering emails and falling behind on other work.

I have offer from Deloitte but they are asking to cross train on their IAM products(like Sailpoint, CyberArk etc). I have other offers from Genpact, Sapient, Ultimate Kronos Group etc.
My current tech stack is Full Stack Java Developer and 5 years of experience.
I am confused that I should go for brand or get cross trained or stay with same technologies.
Other offers 18+2 Genpact, Lead Consultant, Java
Sapient : 19, Senior Associate L1, Core Java
Kronos is less but can try for more
