Yes! I am also pregnant and have 2 small unvaccinated kids at home. I haven’t told anyone at work about pregnancy yet, so it’s awkward to find excuses not to come in to the office. I really don’t care though. It’s a pandemic, and the last thing I want to do is to risk mine and my kids health just to prove someone that I’m a “team player”. I don’t plan on staying at home forever, really hoping to vaccinate the kids as soon as the vaccine is available. But also of course won’t go anywhere until I give birth.

Pregnancy is one of the conditions that make you eligible for a booster. You should be able to get it if you want it

Yes, pregnant with a young unvaccinated child at home, and I haven’t told anyone about the pregnancy yet. I’m not even comfortable dining indoors so I definitely don’t want to meet people in person. I’ve gotten invites for team meetings in the office, cross country trips, happy hours, and I’m running out of excuses both for not traveling and for not drinking. I haven’t used the COVID excuse because I’m afraid people are starting to dismiss it. I’ll probably use it once I announce my pregnancy. So far I’ve claimed client conflicts and deadlines, needing to be home for the kid, and not feeling well (all true).

OP also looks to be from PwC, so I’ll share my specific firm experience. Among the leadership group in my team they are often reemphasizing that no one should be made to feel like they have to travel or go out - said to each other, not as lip service to the staff. I get the impression this really is the “tone from the top” at the firm so I’d recommend just being upfront. I’ve declined all invitations and in person meeting opportunities because of COVID+young kids and no one has batted an eye. We have a (male) partner who bailed on a working session because they didn’t want travel and being it home to their young kids. Individual leaders may have different micro climates but their bosses would very likely be unhappy about it if people were actually pressured about COVID (vs feeling uncomfortable in their own heads about citing it).

I also have not shared my pregnancy yet and now am just being very direct that I am avoiding large in person events at this time. If further information is requested I have said personal reasons and for the most part it has not been pressed further. I am guessing some suspect I may be pregnant, but I just remind myself that my first priority is my baby and I’s health. Hang in there - I know it is tough! Initially I tried excuses (conflicts, etc) but unfortunately it did not stop the invites!

Same. I’ve announced my pregnancy at work but management has no regard for COVID related dangers for pregnant people. They think it can only seriously affect people age 60+ so it hasn’t really helped.

Just stick to your excuse, no need to come up with new ones. If you aren't comfortable, you aren't comfortable period. It's good practice in healthy boundary setting to stay strong now and will translate well beyond covid
