I know what you mean. Just stay focused and everything will work out.
Yep on the completely overwhelmed. Today I was crying during the work day. Last week I was able to hold it together until after school. No one from the top down considered SPED needs. I want to be with my students....not try to figure out these impossible tasks they throw to us with no support, no suggestions or any idea or acknowledgement of how much longer everything in distance learning takes to accomplish. It is a great disservice to the kids. It’s demeaning to us as educators that they don’t ask for our feedback in any way.
I have been juggling in person hybrid AND virtual kids for 9 weeks now. Let me just say, there IS light at the end of the tunnel! Everything is running smooth now.
Stay focused and don’t give up! Do one thins at a time without trying to kill your self! Always prepare for the worse! You got this! Grind it out!
Practice some self care. Ultimately I feel what we do during this time is a loss. I’m not saying don’t try your best. I’m saying that crying, stressing and obsessing doesn’t change the fact you aren’t in control of what happens during a pandemic and essentially it is what it is. Set limits for yourself. Just find a way to get done what you need to do. This isn’t the year to spend extra time trying to be a superstar teacher. There are limitations to this situation.
What you need to do is focus on yourself first. Exercise, eat good food. Spend time with loved ones. Relax, meditate, do yoga. I stopped stressing about this situation after about the first month. I realized I can only do so much. So I just do my best, make outreach to kids through my aide, assist my student teacher the best I can, and have them both assist and take over with the teaching.
There will always be paperwork. Find out a way to simplify the process. I can crank out an IEP in about 45 minutes now. You need to spend time creating a system that works for yourself that makes your time the priority.
